Seimons Wins Legion Mods Main

WENTWORTH, NH — The Granite State Mini-Sprint Association tour came through Wentworth, NH on Sunday, July 28, and Sportsmen Modified regular Gary Seimons took yet another feature win.

The most intense race this Sunday was against Mother Nature. A damp weather forecast kept some of the Legion Speedway’s regular fans and racers away, but the green flag fell on time over a dry track. There was a brief shower during the intermission, but it ended and the main events took to the clay.

Gary Seimons (#51) took his third feature win of the Sunday Twilight Series, in a 25-lap race only interrupted once by the caution flag. Allen Hammond (#77) and Art Heino (#27) put up a valiant fight but had to settle for second and third. Derek O’Hearn returned from a long hiatus in his #55 Super Street machine and handily took his feature event. Doug McPhail (#6) was second, followed by “Super” Sam Comeau (#30).

The Granite State Mini-Sprints brought their twin-state tour to town, featuring their 500cc division and supplementing the Legion’s regular 600cc class. Points leader Kyle Belliveau took the 500cc main in his #76 machine, beating out the #21 of Patrick Smith and his own dad, Peter Belliveau’s #15. Brian Gray drove his #3 600cc Mini-Sprint to a convincing feature win. beating out Jake Williams (#73) and points leader Luke Greenwood (#89).

The Bond Auto Parts Outlaw Mini-Stock feature might just have been the best race of the evening. Points leader Chris Conroy (#78) and Andy Johnson (#1) charged from the back of the field, but were unable to get past the hard-charging Mike Lique’s #7. Lique got his first-ever feature win, and Conroy and Johnson settled for second and third.

The racing will start an hour early on Sunday, August 4 as it is the Legion Speedway’s Kid’s night. Racing will begin at 4, and the intermission will include bicycle races for all kids 15 years and under, as well as race car rides. The Legion Speedway is located on route 25 at the Wentworth/Rumney town line.
