NEMA Lites Champion Jumps Into the VMRS for 2014

2013 NEMA Lite champion Carl Medeiros, Jr. will take another step in his stellar racing career when he straps himself into a Valenti Modified Racing Series race car for the first time. The 17-year-old Westport, MA high school senior will campaign a car formerly owned by Kevin Stuart and driven by another graduate of the NEMA series, Anthony Nocella.

“We had no intention of buying another car so soon, but it was going to the flea market, so we jumped on it,” Medeiros said. “Our main concern is to sell off the midgets we have now, and get our TQ ready for a few shows.”

When asked about the new ride, Medeiros said “It’s basically a new car with only one season on it, with all the good parts and we’re getting a good deal, (it) can’t get much better.”

Like many others, Medeiros started his racing career at the young age of 8 in Karts. Medeiros having much success, claimed four Kart Championships and over 100 wins.

Medeiros then moved up to midgets at age 14, where he became the NEMA Lite champion in 2013, ending his season in the Nu-Way Auto sponsored car with three wins, two second place and one third place finish in 15 starts.

Medeiros and his new ride, yet unsponsored, will make their rookie appearance with the Valenti Modified Racing Series on a date to be determined. Still looking for support of a sponsor, the Medeiros family owned modified will definitely be an asset to the VMRS in 2014.
