Tommy Barrett Jr. to Test at Daytona with Carter 2 Motorsports

Asheboro, N.C. (November 14, 2014) – NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race winner and competitor, Tommy Barrett Jr., has signed to test with Carter 2 Motorsports.

“We are really excited to have Tommy (Barrett Jr.) testing with us,” said Roger Carter of Barrett Jr. “He knows how to wheel a race car and we hope he can join us for a few races this year.”

The Millis, Massachusetts native has quite an impressive racing resume in 2014. Barrett Jr. ranks second on Stafford Speedway’s all-time SK Light Modified wins list with 14 and has earned six wins in just 35 career starts on the Valenti Modified Racing Series. In addition to his accomplishments at Stafford Speedway, he has made 15 starts in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, recording one win, three Top-5’s, 6 Top 10’s, and one pole award.

His lone win came at the most prestigious race on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Barrett Jr. was running third in the late stages of the hotly-contested race when he drove through and by Bonsignore and Santos – who had been the dominant cars of the night – on Lap 139. The 19-year-old held on to the lead in his No. 22 Canto Paving/Ferguson Waterworks Chevrolet through one final restart on Lap 146 for the milestone first victory.

According to team officials, if the test with Carter 2 Motorsports goes well, Barrett Jr. plans to attempt the season opener at Daytona. Also, both Barrett Jr. and Carter 2 Motorsports are searching for sponsorship for the upcoming season.
