NASCAR Officials Training Named to 2015 Learning! 100

Online Training Platform Recognized as Leader in Industry Best Practices For Second Consecutive Year

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 8, 2015) – NASCAR’s Training and Development team will be recognized as one of the Learning! 100 top learning organizations for the second consecutive year, according to Elearning! Media Group. The final rankings will be announced at The Enterprise Learning! Conference on June 9 at the Hylton Center in Manassas, Virginia.

NASCAR’s inclusion on the 2015 Learning! 100 list comes as a result of its online Officials Training efforts, projecting the company as a leader among global organizations for high performance, innovation and collaboration in fostering an immersive learning culture. Furthermore, it serves as tangible evidence that the concerted efforts the sanctioning body has made to enhance the efficiency of its training programs through a partnership with technology solutions provider Intellum, Inc., are having a truly meaningful impact. NASCAR’s Track Safety Training program ranked No. 4 in the 2014 rankings.

“By moving the bulk of our training to an online platform, we have been able to better educate the officials who are responsible for maintaining the competitive integrity of our sport week in and week out, which has always been a major focus for us at NASCAR,” said Robin Pemberton, senior vice president of competition and racing development. “This training gives our officials a depth of knowledge of our rules and procedures necessary to ensure a safe and level playing field for all of our competitors.”

The online program is a supplement to NASCAR’s in-person training efforts, particularly in regards to new officials, rather than a replacement. By completing interactive template training designed to educate them on the specifics of the inspection process across all three of NASCAR’s national series, officials are now arriving at the track better prepared than ever.

“The online system has enabled us to provide all our officials with a deeper understanding of regulations and protocol before they ever get to the track,” said NASCAR Director of Training and Development Karen Masencup. “We are pleased with the progress we’ve seen from this new system so far, and we will continue to evaluate ways to improve it moving forward.”

In 2014 alone, the NASCAR Competition Department completed over 4000 online courses.
