BOGO Tickets for Modified Twin 30s at Airborne Park Speedway on Saturday

Renegade Mechanics Race, “Bake a Cake Night” all part of the fun

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Airborne Park Speedway is offering fans double the racing at half the price on Saturday, August 1.  Aaron’s Sales & Lease and Liquor & Wine Warehouse will present twin 30-lap Modified races with buy-one-get-one-free tickets for just $12.00.

The double feature races will kick off the final stretch drive toward the track championships for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere.  Hometown driver Nick Heywood is aiming at an unprecedented fourth consecutive title in the J&S Steel Modified division and holds a 23-point lead on Clintonville’s Greg Atkins.  Nine different drivers have visited victory lane through the first 10 feature races, including outstanding rookie Danny Sullivan of Morrisonville, who earned his career-first win in last week’s Mid-Season Championship race; Sullivan ranks third overall.

The Key R-D Trailer Sales Renegade division saw a shake-up in the standings as previous leader Jason McClatchie of Plattsburgh fell to fourth place.  Former champion Richie Turner of Fairfax, VT took over the top spot, but is followed closely by Shawn Duquette, defending champion Robert Gordon, and McClatchie, who are all within 27 markers.  The Renegades will run their regular 25-lap feature race before turning the controls over to their crew members for the annual Mechanics Race.

It’s still the “Chris & Kris Show” in the Busch Beer Mini-Modifieds, as Chris LaVair of Gabriels and Kris Clark of Keeseville continue their dominance.  Clark picked up his fourth win of the season last week, but LaVair came back with a win worth $250 in the first-ever Ernie’s Discount Tool “King of the Hill” tournament.  With three feature wins to his credit, LaVair leads Clark by 43 points for the Mini-Mod track title.

Saturday night’s event also includes a first for the UFirst Federal Credit Union Kids Club, with “Bake a Cake Night.”  Kids of all ages are encouraged to bake a cake for their favorite Airborne racer and bring it to the track on Saturday.  The young bakers will be able to make special presentations of their culinary masterpieces to their favorite drivers during intermission.

Buy-one-get-one-free general admission tickets for Saturday night’s action-packed event are only $12.00 at the gate for adults and seniors; kids age 12 and under are always admitted for free.  Gates open at 5:00 p.m., and racing begins at 7:00 p.m.
