Mike Martin Stands Tall in “Brawl for It All” as Funk Claims Mod Title

PEORIA, Ariz. (September 26, 2015) – The USAC Southwest vs. USAC West Coast Sprint Cars “Brawl for It All” lived up to its moniker on Saturday night with Yuma native Mike Martin emerging victorious in the hard-fought 30-lapper atop the 1/3-mile Canyon Speedway Park clay oval.

Along with Martin, other Saturday night winners included Jason Noll in IMCA Modifieds, Matt Martinez in Pure Stocks, Paul Martin in Micro Sprints and Tony Martin in Dwarf Cars while Garrett Funk finished off the track IMCA Modified points championship with a fourth-place run.

While Mike Martin started the USAC Southwest vs. USAC West Coast “Brawl for It All” feature in fifth, Charles Davis, Jr., and Stevie Sussex mixed it up for the lead much of the way until Davis, Jr., looped it with less than ten laps to go, collecting USAC Southwest points leader R.J. Johnson in the process.

Sussex found himself back out front, only to have Andrew Reinbold and Martin race by in a duel for the lead.  Martin finally took the top spot and led the final four circuits to capture his third win of the year aboard the Sherwin Williams/Ultimate Offroad No. 16 Maxim.

Reinbold settled for runner-up honors after starting 13th with Nick Aiuto, Chris Bonneau and Sussex rounding out the top five.

In 9th World Vapors IMCA Modified action, Jason Noll continued his recent hot streak by charging from the tenth starting position to capture his third win in a row ahead of pole starter John Parmeley, Bo Partain, Garrett Funk and Jay Foster.  With his drive from ninth to fourth, Zelenka earned the track championship by 33 points over Shawn Zelenka with George Fronsman another 15 points back in third.

Matt Martinez kept his roll going in Arizona Differential Pure Stock competition by racing from fifth to capture his tenth win of the year ahead of Chris McCurdy, Jr., with Zack Madrid, Ty Weider and Steve Bitting also among the top five.

Paul Martin rallied from five rows deep for his first Micro Sprint win of the year ahead of Jarrett Martin and Dustin Cormany while Tony Martin raced from the sixth row to pick up his third triumph in the last four Dwarf Car outings ahead of last-place starter Eric Muse and Ed Schuhlke.

Action resumes at Canyon Speedway Park with the 15th Annual Sands Chevrolet USAC Hall of Fame Classic on October 2324 featuring USAC/CRA Sprint Cars along with Arizona Differential Pure Stocks, Micro Sprints and Vintage Cars.
