NXS: Wallace Apologizes for Kentucky Incident

Roush Fenway Racing driver Darrell Wallace, Jr. apologized today for his involvement in a post-race altercation from Saturday night’s VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender finished ninth and Scott finished 13th.

Both NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers were placed on probation as a part of penalties NASCAR announced yesterday:
“NASCAR members Brian Allen, Whitney Scott and Darrell Wallace Jr. have been penalized for infractions that occurred during post-race on Sept. 26. These are behavioral penalties (Sections 12.1 and 7.5 of the NASCAR rule book). Allen has been indefinitely suspended from NASCAR. Both Scott and Wallace Jr. have been placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31, 2015.”

The full text of his apology below:
Following this weekend’s race at Kentucky, I was caught off guard and put in a difficult position when confronted after the event. Derogatory comments were made towards me. I became defensive and reacted poorly because of it. Like many athletes, I’ve faced verbal attacks before and know that responding in kind is not appropriate. In the face of these immediate accusations, I reacted unprofessionally and I’m not proud of it. I sincerely want to apologize to all those involved, including NASCAR, Roush Fenway Racing, my sponsors, my family, and my fans.
