TAG Heuer Extends Strengthened Carrera Cup Partnership

Swiss Watchmaker Begins 2017 as Adelaide Event Partner

Porsche Cars Australia and TAG Heuer are delighted to announce the continuation of their long-standing partnership, with TAG Heuer as the Official Watch of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship for the next two seasons, kicking off as the series’ Event Partner at this weekend’s Clipsal 500.

The iconic Porsche series will feature the Swiss watchmaker on the windscreen of every Carrera Cup car in Adelaide, along with continuing as the naming rights partner for many of the series’ properties – Pole Position Award, Fastest Lap Award, In-Car Camera and the Elite Class.

TAG Heuer will also continue to award a selection of timepieces from its Carrera range to the best performing Carrera Cup drivers at the conclusion of each season. The brand awarded eight watches to Carrera Cup drivers at the 2016 Awards Night with a combined retail value close to $70,000.

Porsche Cars Australia Motorsport Manager, Kurt Sakzewski, is thrilled to have TAG Heuer on board for another two seasons along with the Adelaide Event Partnership.

“It’s exciting to have TAG Heuer continue as the Official Watch of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia for a further two seasons. The brand is a great element of our motor racing programme and we look forward to working together to continue this successful relationship,” said Sakzewski.

“TAG Heuer and Porsche share many brand values and have tremendous synergies and motor racing heritage – all reasons that have helped this partnership prosper.

“Exciting times are ahead for Carrera Cup, both in 2017 with our maiden international round at Sepang in Malaysia, and also into 2018 when we introduce our newest generation 911 GT3 Cup race car. We look forward to rolling out these initiatives over the coming two seasons with the close association of TAG Heuer.”

TAG Heuer’s General Manager for Australasia, Pierre Blouin said: “We are thrilled to continue as the Official Watch of Porsche Carrera Cup Australia.

“The partnership is an important platform to celebrate our rich heritage in motorsport and adds to our strong motor racing involvement in 2017. Globally, we continue as the Official Partner of the FIA World Touring Car Championship, FIA Formula E Championship and the Indy 500 as well as Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing and Porsche sports car team Dempsey Racing. Porsche Carrera Cup is a great local addition to this portfolio and its highly competitive spirit fits perfectly with the TAG Heuer mindset, ‘Don’t Crack Under Pressure’,” added Blouin.

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia’s season officially begins this Thursday, March 02 when the series hits the Clipsal 500 circuit for opening practice.
