Carolinas Are Calling
World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series Will Hit North and South Carolina Back-to-Back
CONCORD, NC- April 12, 2017– For the first weekend in May the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series heads to the Carolinas. The Series equipped with 15 full-time drivers and teams will face brave local and regional competition who dare to stand nose-to-nose with the best late model drivers in the country at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC on Friday, May 5 and Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, NC on Saturday, May 6.
Cherokee Speedway
One of the most consistent drivers of the Series 2017 season has been Chris Madden. This season is Madden’s second attempt to run with the Series full-time. His first attempt came in 2007 when he entered the first 16 Series races, however,  his efforts were cut short due to the birth of his son, Avery.
Other than his attempt with the Series in 2007, Madden has never committed to any other national touring series as a full-time driver and still around the country he is known as one of the most talented Late Model drivers. So far this season, the driver has impressively racked up one win, five top-five finishes and seven top-10 finishes of the eight Series races which only further proves how consistent Smokey and his CMR team is on a national level.

Tony Stewart Racing: Donny Schatz World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Texas Outlaw Nationals Preview

Historic Devil’s Bowl Speedway Celebrates Outlaws’ 40th Season; TSR’s Arctic Cat/Ford Performance Team Seeking Second Texas Triumph

INDIANAPOLIS (April 12, 2017) – Making history isn’t something eight-time and reigning World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz is concerned about, but appreciating it certainly is. For more than half of his life, the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing driver has chased his dream of competing with “The Greatest Show on Dirt,” a series that was created by the late Ted Johnson 40 years ago and started at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.

This weekend, Schatz and his Arctic Cat/Ford Performance-backed team lead the Outlaws back to Devil’s Bowl, where Johnson first staged an “Outlaw” race in March of 1978. The two-night Texas Outlaw Nationals provides Schatz an opportunity to continue his quest for a ninth WoO title while competing to win a second Ted Johnson Memorial race trophy.

Since the beginning of 1997, Schatz has realized his dream of being an Outlaw, climbing the ranks from teenage rookie to one of the most decorated drivers in series history. In typical World of Outlaws fashion, his journey has been filled with a lot of ups and downs along the way.

Pirelli World Challenge “SprintX” Coming to Lime Rock

Lime Rock Park’s first major spectator event of the year is the Pirelli World Challenge GT series, Friday, and Saturday, May 26 and 27. Of the 2017 championship’s 11 race weekends, just five were “hand-picked” to enjoy its exciting SprintX format – including Lime Rock.

So, what is SprintX?

Across the world, there are basically two types of GT racing (i.e., race cars based on production sports cars). There are sprint races – short, quick competitions, usually an hour or less – and endurance races, which are between two-and-half and 24 hours long and by rule, employ two or more drivers per car.

In the U.S., the short sprint GT races are conducted by Pirelli World Challenge (PWC), while the long endurance GT races are conducted by IMSA WeatherTech (at Lime Rock July 22).
