Teddy Hodgdon Ready for MSD Legends Series Opener

Semi-Pro Legend Drier Ready for Third Annual Icebreaker, Road Race Style

THOMPSON, CT –Two years ago, the US Legends Cars made their debut on the 1.7-mile road course at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. The wheel-to-wheel competition stunned onlookers, and soon the scaled 1930’s coupes and sedans had a new home. The Third Annual Icebreaker, Road Race Style, scheduled for Saturday, April 22, will serve as the season-opening event for the Midstate Site Development (MSD) Legends Series. INEX Semi-Pro driver, Teddy Hodgdon, looks forward to beginning his championship chase at the event.

Sixteen year-old driver, Teddy Hodgdon and his father and car owner, Ted Hodgdon, owner of the No. 28 Replica 1934 Ford Coupe Legend Car has a good idea of what it takes to be successful on the technical 1.7-mile road course. The driver of the No. 28 explains, “There is not a lot of road courses around the New England Area besides New Hampshire. To have another Road Course close to my location is awesome. The TSMP Road Course is perfect for these cars on the straight away and room for these cars to race, making it interesting.”

Teddy Hodgdon has a history of great success in the Semi Pro Legends Division. He won two National Qualifier events at Bethel Motor Speedway in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Teddy also has won 8 races and placed 8th out of more than 300 drivers in the national rankings, despite missing races, including the 2016 Icebreaker, Road Race Style. Continued Wet Forecast Forces 81-Speedway Officials to Call Off Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout

PARK CITY, Kan. (April 19, 2017) Officials at 81-Speedway have made the decision to call off this weekend’s rescheduled Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout as this weekend’s forecast has not come below a 90 percent chance of rain on during Friday’s, April 21 opener, only to give way to a 50 percent chance on Saturday, April 22.

The race will not be rescheduled for a third time, but the dates for next year’s event have been announced for March 30-31, 2018.

“It’s hard to have to call of a race, but with the rain chances as high as they are, we’d rather have the race called early so the teams can find other options to fill their weekend,” said ASCS Red River Region director, Terry Mattox. “We’re already looking at the dates for next year and making sure we can co-sanction again.”

PPMS Inks Two Ultimate NE Super Late Model Series Races for 2017

CARNESVILLE, GA – Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in Imperial, PA has agreed to host two ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series North East Region events during the 2017 racing season.  The 40-lap $3,000-to-win, $400-to-start ULTIMATE NE races will be on July 15 and August 26.

The ULTIMATE NE Region is one of four throughout the country.  It was formed this year to sanction super late model racing in Pennsylvania, Northern Ohio, and New York.  Due to the lateness of the off-season the region was formed, most tracks had already set their 2017 schedules.  This led series officials to present a non-point, non-points fund paying Introductory Pilot Season.

“We are delighted that a track with the stature of Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway under the promotion and management of the Miley Family has agreed to sign two ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series North East Region races for 2017,” ULTIMATE NE Director Rose Compton said.  “It’s an exciting time for ULTIMATE NE and we can’t wait to get started promoting these two events with the Miley’s and the staff of PPMS.”

PASS Statement Regarding Raphael Lessard Disqualification at Hickory

CHARLOTTE, NC (April 19) – Following Saturday night’s Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway, driver of the #99, Raphael Lessard, was disqualified due to the inappropriate actions of his crew chief/spotter, Seth Smith, following the event.  The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) would like to further clarify what transpired leading to the disqualification.

First, Lessard was warned and fined $500 for intentionally spinning the #89 car driven by Lee Hansard on lap 59.  Mr. Hansard is a veteran of short track racing in the southeast and has competed with PASS on a limited basis for over 10 years.  While Lessard was battling for the lead, Mr. Hansard was racing hard to stay on the lead lap when he was unnecessarily tagged from behind by the #99 car. (See Attached Video)

Second, on the ensuing restart, Preston Peltier passed Lessard on the track for the lead when the caution immediately waved for a crash by Dawson Cram on the front straightaway. The #99 team incorrectly assumed that PASS reverts to the last completed lap in scoring.  Lessard passed Peltier under caution, was told to give the position back, and was again warned and fined $500 for illegally passing under yellow.
