Racing Against CancerTM has winning season, provides over $23,000 to benefactors

Westbrook, CT –It became a successful rebuilding season as Racing Against CancerTM (RAC) restructured its fundraising activities with the launch of their new Track Walk program. The 2011 season proved to be a real winner for their benefactors.

The 2011 fundraising and racing season kicked off in January as Decourcy Racing hosted the first annual Racing Against CancerTM 100 at Checkered Flag Indoor Karting (CFIK) in Haverhill, MA. Family, friends, RAC supporters and karting enthusiasts came out in large numbers to participate in a fun-filled afternoon of karting events. Funds were raised via entry fees and other donations. Decourcy Racing generated over $500 for their first annual event. Plans are in place for a second annual RAC 100 that is scheduled to take place on Saturday January 21, 2012 at CFIK. This event should prove to be even bigger and better than the first.

After 16 successful years of raising funds to fight cancer, Racing Against Cancer™ jump started its new fundraising initiative, the Racing Against Cancer™ Track Walk program. The program took place at four tracks across the northeast during the 2011 racing season. New Approach, New Look, Same Goal for RAC in 2011

Racing Against Cancer Program Launches New Fundraising Campaign & Fresh New Website

Westbrook, CT — For nearly 15 years the Racing Against Cancer TM (RAC) Program has successfully motivated members of the local and regional racing community to help raise in excess of $660,000 for the fight against cancer. In 2011, the RAC Program will continue to depend on the support of local racers but will also look for participation in a different way. Following in the footsteps of the American Cancer Society, a major beneficiary of the charitable organization, the Racing Against Cancer has adopted a new “Track Walk” Program as the core of their fundraising efforts.

“Our mission continues to be to raise money for cancer research, patient services, youth tobacco educational programs, and awareness,” said Scott Gregory, Director of Operations for the Racing Against Cancer Program. “RAC team members are still encouraged to continue with the unique fundraising efforts that they have initiated over the years. The “Track Walk” Program is a way for us to expand our reach, increase fundraising revenues and ultimately fortify our impact on the fight against cancer.”

During the 2011 season, the Racing Against Cancer Team will host “Track Walks” at race tracks throughout the U.S. Participants will form teams of eight to 15 members who will share in the responsibility of completing laps around the race facility over a 2-to 24-hour period. Team members will help raise money by obtaining donations and securing sponsorship dollars for each lap completed by the team.
