USAC Southwest Freedom Tour this Week

TULSA, Okla. (August 14, 2017) – Traditional Sprint Car racing fans throughout Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas are in for a rare treat this week with the fifth rendition of the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars “Freedom Tour”.

The wingless Sprint Cars will sling the clay for four nights at four different tracks beginning on Wednesday night, battling it out for a $2,500 winner’s share each night with a minimum of $250 to start each feature event.

The action begins with Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway hosting the “Freedom Tour” for the first time on Wednesday. From there, action shifts to Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on Thursday night and then Wichita’s 81 Speedway on Friday night. The miniseries wraps up on Saturday night at Caney Valley Speedway near the Oklahoma-Kansas line in Caney, KS.

Bellm Back to Lake Ozark after Another Win

NIXA, Mo. (July 29, 2017) – Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway has been good for Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team this season.

So, little wonder that he’ll be back for Saturday night’s weekly competition atop the 1/3-mile clay oval.

The Nixa, MO, racer racked up his fourth overall win of the year and third at Lake Ozark Speedway last Saturday night in ASCS Warrior Region action aboard the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision entry. It highlighted another strong weekend that included a runner-up finish the previous night in ASCS Red River Region action at Oklahoma’s Creek County Speedway before Sunday’s ASCS Warrior Region go was cut short before it truly got going.

Aaron Reutzel Triumphant with Lucas Oil ASCS at Creek County Speedway

SAPULPA, Okla. (June 15, 2017) Aaron Reutzel was untouchable on Thursday night, earning his second Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network A-Feature win of the 2017 season.

Winning at Creek County Speedway in Round 5 of the 2017 ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek, the win is Aaron’s first National Tour triumph at the Oklahoma quarter-mile in the tour’s 24th visit since 1994.
“Carson told me today he wanted to stand on the wing, so when we went up the pill draw, I told him to get us the number one and I think I can get us up there,” said Reutzel with a smile as his son stood jubilant in Victory Lane at his side.

San Tan Valley Sands Chevrolet USAC Southwest Sprint Results

Davis Grabs San Tan Valley 30-lapper

San Tan Valley, AZ……..Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz. got by R.J. Johnson eight laps from the finish Saturday night and ended up winning the 30-lap Sands Chevrolet USAC Southwest Sprint Car race at Arizona Speedway. Johnson took second ahead of Tye Mihocko, Stevie Sussex and Nick Aiuto. Davis trails Johnson by only 24 points in the new series standings.

Lucas Oil ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek Begins In Lubbock and Amarillo

TULSA, Okla. (June 5, 2017) Turning 25 in 2017 is the ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek and this year’s test of driver and machine will see stops in Texas, Oklahoma, and Missouri with seven races across nine nights. Speedweek 2017 for the American Sprint Car Series is also the fourth edition of the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup in honor of the late founder of Wesmar Racing Engines.

Kicking off on Friday, June 9 at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas the return to the three-eighths mile is the first time in 13 years that the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series has seen action in Lubbock. Formerly known as Tech Motor Speedway, then Lady Luck Speedway, the track saw five events from 2002 to 2004. Of those five events, two drivers traded off trips to Victory Lane with Travis Rilat topping action three times to Gary Wright’s pair of triumphs.
Friday, June 9 at West Texas Raceway will get underway at 8:00 P.M. (CDT) with Hot Laps. West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas is located at 12503 Highway 87. Creek and Lawton Speedway on ASCS Red River Radar This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. (May 17, 2017) Back to the “Sooner State” for the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products for a weekend double with races at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa on Friday, May 19 and Lawton Speedway on Saturday, May 20.

Following Friday’s events at Humboldt Speedway, the series has a new point’s leader as Oklahoma’s Jared Sewell now sits atop the standings by 25 markers. Looking for his first win of the season, Sewell leads Kade Morton, who topped the series in 2015, with Brandon Hanks, Alex Sewell, and Blake Hahn making the series top-five.

The season’s first trip to Creek County Speedway, the Friday showdown will also feature Non-Wing Champ Sprints and Dwarf Cars. In the Red River Region’s last stand-alone visit to the Sapulpa quarter-mile on July 7, 2016, the night ended with a first-time winner as Drumright’s Fred Mattox led start to finish with Layne Himebaugh and Alex Sewell making up the podium over the night’s 22 car field. ASCS Red River and NCRA Team Up for Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout!

TULSA, Okla. (March 29, 2017) Teaming up to make the Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout even bigger, the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products will join together with the National Championship Racing Association (NCRA) for a showdown at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.

Slated for Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22 the $15,000 to win, $1,000 to start event was originally re-scheduled to April 28 and 29.

Speaking with C. Ray Hall on why the race was moved up a week, he stated that he had to move the race after he found out there was a Rodeo in Wichita that weekend and as such, all the hotels in the area were nearly gone.

Fifth Annual “Freedom Tour” Set for USAC Southwest Sprint Cars

TULSA, Okla. (January 24, 2017) – Race fans in and around Oklahoma and Kansas will once again get their annual serving of premier wingless Sprint Car racing as the slate has been set for the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars “Freedom Tour”.

For the fifth consecutive year, the stars of the Arizona-based USAC Southwest Sprint Car series will storm through Oklahoma and Kansas in August, taking on the best the region has to offer up.

This year’s “Freedom Tour” once again consists of four nights of competition, with the four-race set of $2,500-to-win, $250-to-start events kicking off Wednesday night, August 16.  Creek County Speedway, 81 Speedway and Caney Valley Speedway will host this year’s action.  Creek County Speedway and 81 Speedway have been a part of the “Freedom Tour” since its inaugural season in 2013 with Caney Valley Speedway a new addition to the popular series in 2017.

John Carney II Wins Lucas Oil ASCS Thriller at Creek County Speedway

SAPULPA, Okla. (November 5, 2016) The finale of the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling powered by Pizza Express with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network was a show to behold as John Carney II held off a barrage of slide jobs from Sam Hafertepe, Jr. to pick up his second career National Tour Victory.

“Man, I don’t even know what to say right now. That was pretty spectacular from where I was sitting. He gave me a little room, I gave him a little room, and that’s what racing is all about in order to put on a good show for these fans. They’re what this is all about,” said Carney who, along with the $4,000 winner’s purse, also pocketed an extra $1,980 in bonus lap money.

Greeted in Victory Lane by Sam Hafertepe, Jr. with a congratulatory handshake, Hafertepe commented, “How about this guy? That’s a hell of a racer to run the top like he did for 40 laps and barely ever falter. He was wearing me out man, and I wasn’t going to do him dirty. He did a hell of a job and he earned this one for sure.”

Hafertepe Victorious in Lucas Oil ASCS Fall Fling Opener

SAPULPA, Okla. (November 4, 2016) Using a late race caution to his advantage, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. bounced his way around the infield berm to pick up his eighth victory of the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, and first at the Creek County Speedway in the John Christner Trucking Fall Fling powered by Pizza Express.

“It was tough conditions. They re-worked the track there before that Midget main, and however we got by him, we got by him,” said Hafertepe of the late race pass.

“It is what it is. Everyone doesn’t see it the same way, but I don’t make the rules. I just race the car, and we had a really good car tonight. Ryan did a hell of a job and we did the best we could do to come out on top.”

ASCS Championship Chases Roll Into John Christner Trucking Fall Fling

TULSA, Okla. (November 2, 2016) The John Christner Trucking Fall Fling featuring the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network and Lucas Oil POWRi West Midgets is ready to roll with action on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at the Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.

With a solid field of drivers from as far away as Washington and Montana making their way to the “Sooner State” for the two-day affair, the J.C.T. Fall Fling will be preceded by an open practice on Thursday, November 3.

John Christner Trucking Named The Title Sponsor Of The Creek County Fall Fling

TULSA, Okla. (October 28, 2016) With a week to go until the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network hits the clay of the Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. for the return of the Fall Fling, Oklahoma-based John Christner Trucking has been named the title sponsor of the two-day event on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5.

ASCS Red River Headlining Lone Star Shootout at Timberline Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (October 3, 2016) A $2,000 payday awaits the winner of this weekend’s Lone Star Shootout at Timberline Speedway in Corley, Texas as the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products invades the high-banked, three-eighths mile on Saturday, October 8.

The only trip of the 2016 season to the Timberline Speedway for the ASCS Red River Region, the series last trip to the far east Texas oval came on October 2, 2015, with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. earning the victory in the inaugural Lone Star Shootout. Previous to Sam’s win, Johnny Herrera parked his No. 45x in Victory Lane on May 22, 2015.

This Saturday’s showdown is the final standalone event for the ASCS Red River Region, who will be paired up with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour for the Devil’s Bowl Winter Nationals on October 14 and 15 and the Fall Fling at Creek County Speedway on November 4 and 5.

POWRi West Midgets Added to Lucas Oil ASCS Fall Fling at Creek County Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (October 3, 2016) Already generating plenty of buzz across the “Sooner State” and beyond, the return of the Fall Fling to Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. featuring the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network will be a true open wheel extravaganza as the Lucas Oil POWRi West Midgets are set to join the lineup.

“Creek is a great track for Midgets, and we’ve been fortunate to have a great turn out every time we’ve rolled in,” said POWRi West Director, Eric Fenton. “What’s really nice about having the POWRi West Midgets run with the American Sprint Car Series is it gives drivers a chance to get double the racing. A lot these guys run both classes throughout the year and we already have several planning on it for the Fall Fling.”

Taking place Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 the POWRi West Midgets will run two complete nights of racing with Friday’s A-Feature offering $1,500 to win, $150 to start. Saturday will see that amount increased to $2,000 to win, $200 to start. All Non-Qualifiers will get $50 both nights.

Fred Mattox Breaks Through With ASCS Red River At Creek County Speedway

SAPULPA, Okla. (July 7, 2016) A little “Thursday Night Thunder” to kick off the 2016 ASCS Sooner Sweep produced a first time winner with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products as Drumright, Oklahoma’s Fred Mattox parked his No. 26m in Victory Lane for a $2,000 payday at the Creek County Speedway.

Overall, Fred Mattox is the 13th different winner with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products, and is the third first time winner in 2016 with the Oklahoma based region.
Rolling from the pole of Thursday’sASCS Red River Region showdown, Mattox held off the charge of Layne Himebaugh through several restarts. Able to close the gap in the final laps, Mattox was able to keep the No. 24 at bay; beating out Himebaugh by 0.592 seconds.
Coming from 10th, Broken Arrow’s Alex Sewell worked to third with Tony Bruce, Jr. crossing fourth. Hard charging from the 21st starting spot, Kyle Clark wheeled his way to a fifth place finish.

Hopefully, Mother Nature plays nicer this time around after washing out last Saturday and Sunday’s scheduled action after a fourth-place ASCS Warrior Region run at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO, on Friday night.

This week, Bellm and the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team get an early start on the weekend with Thursday’s opening leg of the ASCS Red River Region “Sooner Sweep” at Creek County Speedway near Tulsa, OK, before moving on to “Sooner Sweep” Round Two at Outlaw Motor Speedway near Muskogee, OK, on Friday.

Bellm Bags Fourth Place Run at Sedalia

NIXA, Mo. (April 21, 2016) – After a grinding crash at Creek County Speedway the previous weekend, a top-five run is exactly what Kyle Bellm was looking for.

The Nixa, MO, racer got it by racing to the stripe fourth in Sunday afternoon’s ASCS Warrior Region season opener at Sedalia’s Missouri State Fair Speedway.

“The way things have been going, we’ll take a fourth-place finish right now,” last year’s ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year commented of the fourth-place run aboard the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car.

Seth Bergman Wires ASCS Red River at Creek County Speedway

SAPULPA, Okla. (April 8, 2016) Holding off repeated attempts by Bryan Clauson for short track glory, Washington’s Seth Bergman came out on top with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products atop the clay of the Creek County Speedway.

Surviving several race restarts due to crashes, and early cautions, the Corridor Electric No. 23 of Bergman led all 25 laps for his third overall win of the 2016 season, and fourth overall with the Red River Region.

Indiana’s Bryan Clauson crossed second in the Elk Grove Ford No. 17w with Oklahoma’s Blake Hahn completing the night’s podium following several back-to-back slide jobs with Clauson on the final restart. Johnny Herrera was fourth with Sean McClelland coming from 10th to complete the top-five.

NIXA, Mo. (April 7, 2016) – Following an unscheduled idle weekend due to the rainout of last Saturday’s Rock ‘N Roll 50 at Riverside Speedway, Kyle Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team get back to action this weekend.

Bellm and crew will tackle the ¼-mile Creek County Speedway near Tulsa, OK, for Friday night’s ASCS Red River Region card.

Pending Friday night’s results, the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision team will either take in another night of ASCS Red River action at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, TX, or make an annual venture to Little Rock’s I-30 Speedway for weekly competition on Saturday night.

ASCS Red River Heads For Creek County Speedway and Super Bowl Speedway

TULSA, Okla. (April 4, 2016) Kicking off a full lineup of events in the month of April, the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products will see action in the Sooner and Lone Star states this weekend with
stops at the Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla. on Friday, April 8 and the Super Bowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas on Saturday, April 9.

The first regional showing of the year at both facilities, the Creek County Speedway has seen a multitude of ASCS Regional events over the years with the former ASCS Sooner Region. In the Red River Region’s most recent visit on July 17, 2015, the Friday night battle went to Broken Arrow’s Alex Sewell. The Region’s only other visit on April 10, 2015, went to Johnny Herrera.

Seeing the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley’s Racing Products for the first time this past season, Washington’s Seth Bergman rode the top-side of the quarter-mile Super Bowl Speedway to victory on April 11, 2015.

USAC Southwest Freedom Tour Finale Saturday at DCRP

DODGE CITY, Kan. (August 18, 2015) – It happens just one time each year.  And that one time is this Saturday, as “traditional” Sprint Cars takes to the Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval this Saturday night.

Saturday’s card that fires off at 7:30 p.m. marks the final round of the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars Third Annual “Freedom Tour” for non-wing Sprint Cars.

It’s a four-race set of events that culminates at the 3/8-mile DCRP facility after kicking off at Oklahoma’s Lawton Speedway on Wednesday night before moving on to Creek County Speedway near Tulsa on Thursday and then Wichita’s 81 Speedway on Friday.
