Alexander Conquers PASS at Scotia
Second Race-June 9th at Scotia Speedworld
HARDWOOD LANDS, NS — Scott Alexander of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia earned the biggest win of his career Saturday night, taking his Uncle Reg/Mighty Mufflers Ford to the $4, 000.00 (US) victory in the Forbes Chev Olds 150, race number two in the 2001 Pro All Stars Series schedule.
The Pro All Stars inaugural Canadian event saw 27 cars take the green on the flat 1/3 mile oval at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Alexander wrestled the lead away from rookie David Avery on lap 47 and never looked back, despite repeated challenges from Pro All Stars regular Ben Rowe. Rowe came home in second, with Maritimer Wayne Smith third, New PASS overall points leader Sam Sessions fourth and Adam Friend a solid fifth after starting near the back of the pack.
Time trials were cancelled due to on and off showers that halted the action on four occasions. Heat winners were Andy Shaw, Louis Mechalides, Alexander and Avery.
Thomas Oliphant earned the Northern Race Tires Rookie of the Race award, coming home in the 11th spot.
