Tremont Wins Spring Championship

WEST HAVEN, VT – In Week 1 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, Don Scarborough got the glory.

In Week 2, Ken Tremont Jr. got the points.

Tremont dominated the double-point Spring Championships at the Bowl Sunday night, cruising to his 48th career victory in the 30-lap 358-modified feature.

Coming off the second row, Tremont took the lead on lap five, and overpowered the field in his bid for a third straight track championship.

Tremont had finished second to Scarborough in the rain-shortened CJ 101 on opening night, but on Sunday, no one could even come close to the S&S Paving-sponsored small block. Tim Laduc moved into second on lap 19 and got a chance to close in on Tremont’s rear bumper when the caution flew one lap later, but Tremont then pulled away to a 4.5-second margin of victory in the final 10 laps.

Laduc had to settle for second, with Vince Quenneville Jr. third, Scarborough fourth, and Todd Stone fifth.

Lori Cary came off the front row and rocketed to her second straight victory in the 20-lap pro-street stock feature. Jeff Washburn and Dan Eastman waged a heck of a battle for second. Eastman grabbed the No. 2 spot on lap six, only to lose that position to Washburn on lap 12.

But Eastman got the spot back three laps later, and nosed Washburn out for second. Carl Vladyka finished fourth, with Freddie Little fifth.

The limiteds ran double features because of the rain during Week 1. Joey Trudeau held off Kevin Elliot to win the first feature, and Elliot came back in the nightcap to record his first win of the season.

The mini-stocks were also in action on Sunday night, with Jim Anagnos picking up a convincing win.

Devil’s Bowl will return to action on Sunday, June 10, with a full card of racing that will include the budget sportsman and the first enduro of the season. Racing will begin at 7 p.m.
