Dumarey Overcomes Accidents To Finish 17th At Adirondack
Beaver Falls, NY — When the NASCAR Busch East Series took the green flag in the Edge Hotel 150 at Adirondack International Speedway, Max Dumarey, driver of the No. 16 BODYCOACH.NET Chevrolet was confident the team had given him a car capable of finishing in the top-10. But when a car spun on lap 32, Dumarey had nowhere to go and made contact. The team spent the rest of the day playing catch-up and settled for a 17th place finish.
“The car was great in the beginning of the race. After just a few laps we were 14th and I was just cruising around. I’m sure we had a top-10 or even better. The 30 spun and I couldn’t avoid it. That hit messed up the front geometry on the car, and it was never the same for the rest of the race.”
Threatening skies lingered over the track all day with brief periods of rain. NASCAR canceled qualifying to allow the teams to get sufficient practice time in at the unique half-mile track. Dumarey started the race from 20th, and by lap 25 was running 14th.
Dumarey had to pit after clipping the 30 car on lap 32 and restarted the race at the tail end of the field. His troubles weren’t over, however. As the race approached lap 65, a pack of cars checked up and again, Dumarey had nowhere to go. He got into the back of the 52 car and pushed the nose in on the BODYCOACH.NET Chevrolet. The car started overheating, but an unrelated accident on the backstretch didn’t allow them to pit immediately.
“We came in to try and get the car to stop overheating, but because of that wreck with the 5, 1, and 26 cars, we had to wait to come in, and we ended up going a lap down,” Dumarey explained. “Just after that, the throttle stuck on the car and I was running with only half-throttle.”
Despite the issues with the car, Dumarey was able to gain through the field.
“On the corners I was catching them again,” he said. “I had just enough corner speed to do that.”
was able to stay out of trouble for the remainder of the race and finished 17th.
“Considering everything that went on, we came out of this okay,” he said. “But knowing how good the car was at the beginning of the race makes this finish a little disappointing. We had a better car than that. The guys worked really hard today and did an excellent job. I can’t thank them enough for that. It was a rough night out there, but we’re all looking forward to a couple weeks off and then heading to
