Gada Prevails; Botticello Rallies
Waterford, CT — Dennis Gada prevailed for the fourth time in 2007, taking the 35-lap SK Modified feature. Passing early leader Diego Monahan with 22-laps remaining, the defending track champion took command on a number of late-race restarts to win by several car lengths. The event marked Gada’s 56th career Speedbowl victory.
Other feature winners were Dennis Botticello (Late Model), Jim Procaccini (Sportsman), Danny Field (Mini Stocks), and Bill Leonard (All Star Race Trucks).
“Getting out in the lead early was key tonight because of what was going on behind me, said Gada. “My spotter was on the radio a lot telling me to slow-up because there’s another crash. It must have been kind of ugly out there tonight.”
In victory circle, Gada was quick to mention the loss of John Blewett III, who perished earlier in the week at the Thompson Motor Speedway. “We feel for the family and friends of John Blewett III, and want them to know that we’re thinking about them during this difficult time.”
Diego Monahan finished second, with Don Fowler, Zach Sylvester, and Bo Gunning rounding out the top-five.
Dennis Botticello annexed the 30-lap Late Model feature, taking the top-spot from Ron Yuhas Jr. on the 27th lap. It was his second Speedbowl triumph of the season. Filling out the top-five was Bruce Thomas Jr., Yuhas, Rich Staskowski, and Ed Reed Jr.
Jim Procaccini took his second 20-lap feature race of the season. Leading flag-to-flag, he survived three late race restarts for the victory, taking full advantage of a torrid battle for second between Dwayne Dorr and Al Stone behind him.
Field came out on top in the 20-lap feature for the fourth time in 2007. Finishing in the top-5 was Joseph Godbout III, Phil Evans, Randolph Churchill Jr., and Louis Bellisle.
Leonard took a close one over Seth Duval in the 25-lap AllStar Truck feature. Following was Walt Wasko, Tony Naglieri, and Chris Correll. It was Leonard’s second AllStar win of the season.
