Cestodio Wins Third Pure Stock Feature

Seekonk, MA — Swansea, MA’s Scott Cestodio continued his string of successful finishes in the 2007 Sunday Spectacular programs, winning his third 25-lap feature of the season before a crowd in excess of 10,000 spectators on September 2.  The 24 year-old earned the pole via a random draw for starting spots, and led the 20-car field down to the green with fellow veteran Mark Boisvert.

The duo battled side-by-side for the lead for several laps, with both drivers taking a turn out front.  By lap 6, however, Cestodio had cleared Boisvert, with Carlos Silva, Amy Arsenault, John A. Robidoux, Steve Cromwell, Bob Hinckley, George Correia, John Robidoux, and Charles Beal comprising the remainder of the top ten.

Correia and John Robidoux tangled coming through turn four on lap 11, but were able to keep going without need for a yellow.  Correia, the Waterford Speedbowl regular who won the most recent Sunday show, retired to the infield with a flat left rear tire while Robidoux took his mount to the pits seven circuits later.

At the halfway point, the top five remained unchanged, with Beal and point leader Bill Chouinard now up to sixth and seventh.  Arsenault got under Silva and snatched third spot with five laps to go.  Robidoux followed Amy into fourth in the closing laps, but Cestodio and Boisvert were untouchable at the head of the class, expertly weaving their way through a steady stream of lapped traffic all the way to the checkers in the caution-free affair.  In the end, the TownCarTravel.com-Higg’s Painting #01 Chevrolet crossed the line 2.627 seconds ahead of Boisvert to earn feature win number three on the season, unofficially closing to within eight points of his point-leading Bizarre Intentions teammate, Bill Chouinard who came from the 17th starting spot to finish eighth.

Arsenault was third, followed by John A. Robidoux, Carlos Silva, Bob Hinckley, Charles Beal, Bill Chouinard, Rick Hayward, and Randy Moretti.
