Tim Brown scores Monday victory at Ace Speedway
Brown led the final 82 laps and beat second place driver L.W. Miller by more than half a second.
It was Brown’s second career Whelen Southern Modified Tour victory and it came before an emotional pit crew that consists of several family members.
“This was a super car and the crew probably spent 20 hours working on it after last Saturday night’s race at
“We’ve had a good year but the luck hasn’t fallen our way, but tonight it did. This is what it’s all about. I just want to thank NASCAR and Whelen for their support. This victory makes up for a lot.”
L.W. Miller was thrilled with his runner-up finish which helped extend his Whelen Southern Modified Tour championship lead heading into Saturday night’s race at Caraway (N.C.)
“We had a good car but it obviously wasn’t as good as the car Tim and that bunch had,” Miller said.
Rounding out the top-five behind Brown and Miller were Brian Loftin, Burt Myers and Woody Pitkat.
Perhaps one of the biggest stories of the night came on Lap 75 when two-time and defending Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Junior Miller headed to the garage with engine problems en route to a rare 20th place finish.
