Finale To Settle SK, Mini Stock Point Battles

Waterford, CT –One hundred lap features for the SK-Modifieds and Late Models top the bill for this weekend’s 13-division Town Fair Tire Finale at Waterford Speedbowl. The two-day battle with bring to a close a couple of special point races as well.

Rob Janovic Jr. takes a 14-point lead over Dennis Gada in the SK 100 while Ken Cassidy Jr. enters the Mini Stock 30 lapper a mere 12 ahead of Danny Field. Janovic and Cassidy are seeking first-time crowns while Gada and Field are after new records – a 7th title for Gada and a third straight for Field.

The Sportsman face a 30-lap test as well. Also on the busy menu are the Northeastern Midget Association, The AllStar Race Trucks, the Pro4 Modifieds and the Allison Legacy Cars, all in the midst of tight point battles. The Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday crowd – the Legends, X-Modifieds, X-Cars and Super X Cars will be on hand as well.

Qualifying heats for all divisions will be Saturday ahead of features for the Legends, Trucks, Pro4s, Legacy Cars and the Wild n’ Wacky divisions, the latter also including Women on Wheels events.

The Midgets (25 laps) will join the SKs, Late Models, Sportsman and Mini Stocks on Sunday. It will bring the curtain down on the Speedbowl’s 57th consecutive season.

Jeff Pearl will also grab a major portion of the spotlight in pursuit of the first-ever SK Triple Crown. Pearl won the Modified Nationals and Pepsi 300 earlier this year.

Points will be a concern up and down the Speedbowl’s regular divisions. Youngsters Tyler Chadwick and Jeffrey Paul and veterans Don Fowler, Frank Mucciacciaro Jr. and Wendall Dailey all hope to improve top 10 positions. The same is true for Late Model warriors Ed Reed Jr., Larry Goss, Tim Jordan and Rich Duranti and Sportsman favorites Jack Aquilina and Jim Procaccini.

The battle for NEMA supremacy between three-time defending champ Ben Seitz and Joey Payne will continue at the Finale. Lou Cicconi, Randy Cabral and Nokie Fornoro have won at the Speedbowl this year. Payne is looking for a second straight Finale triumph.

In Pro4 action, Norm Wrenn will be after a second Speedbowl win this year. Wrenn sits second in points, eight behind popular Jeff Zuidema. A one-time Mini Stock regular, Bill Leonard has two Speedbowl AllStar Race Truck wins this year. He is second in ARTs points, 19 behind Seth Duval.

Anthony Frissora and Jake Vanada, the latter a winner earlier at the Bowl, are tied atop the Legacy standings. Paul Tothill and Tayla Orleans are in the hunt as well.

Bubby Brouwer (X-Mods), Brad Voglesong (X Car), Joe Yagmin (Super X) and Jason Palmer (Legends) hope to add a Finale win to their Wild n Wacky championships.
