Mason-Dixon Meltdown is Shaping Up To Be a Very Big Show
On November 16th-17th, the asphalt short track warriors will be the circus that is coming to town. They will be filling hotel rooms and heading up and down Highway 601 with their haulers. That is when the second annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown will take place at
The two-day show will feature Friday night racing for Legends and Bandos on the quarter-mile Concord track and two days of actions featuring the high-horsepower divisions on the tricky, ultra-quick half mile tri-oval for all other divisions.
“It’s going to be a big show with a lot of excitement around it,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “We’re getting pre-entries in from all over in every division. A number of PASS North teams are coming down for the race, along with the PASS South regulars. You’ll also be seeing some one-off entries like Freddie Query and Ryan Moore. John Van Doorn, who just won the All-American 400, will be there. When it comes to Super Late Model racing, I think that you’ll see the best guys on the East Coast competing in the Meltdown.”
The support divisions for the race are nothing to sneeze at either.
“The PASS and Rolling Thunder Modified combo race will probably draw 30 cars and the interest in the other divisions is great too. We’re going to have a pretty good deal when it comes to racing on the quarter mile on Friday night. There are entries from

The Second-Annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown will take place Friday and Saturday, November 16-17, at
Action begins Friday at the half-mile with pit gates opening at 10:00 am and rotating practice starting at noon. Once action at the half-mile wraps up, focus will shift to the Legends and Bandoleros at the quarter-mile. Their pit gates open at 1:00 pm Friday with alternating practice starting at 3:00 pm and heat races beginning at 6:00 pm, followed by the features. On Saturday back at the half-mile, pit gates open at 9:00 am with practicing starting at 11:00 am. Time Trials begin at 2:15 pm with heat races beginning at 4:00 pm. The 2nd Annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown is set to begin at approximately 7:45 pm.
