Eggimann & Crooker Latest Mototown USA Feature Winners
Norrie, Baumann, Jacobs and Routhier Make Victory Lane Returns
Windsor, CT — William Eggimann, of South Hadley, Mass., and Richard Crooker, of Nashua, N.H., became the latest Bud Light 12 Pack Racing Series feature winners here in Mototown USA Sunday afternoon.
Eggimann won his first 750cc micro sprint main in four tries by staying ahead of Marc Guerard. The 20-lap feature victory plus taking the 10-lap heat also vaults Eggimann past Guerard in that division’s points championship lead – 302 to 282 points.
Former NASCAR regional champion Ted Christopher, fresh from his Daytona Prototype run at the Rolex 24 at Daytona Jan. 26-27, took third. Racing broadcaster Jack Arute and Chester Hinkle rounded out the top five of seven finishers.
Crooker followed up his winning the first MototownUSA 12 Pack 600cc. heat Jan. 7 by attaining his first divisional feature over second-time starter Arron Spahr. Debutant Andy Bachetto and current points leader Timex Morgan, of Rochester, Mass., rounded out the top four.
Crooker’s victory halts the absent Lex Burritt’s unbeaten streak at three. Burritt, of Redding, Conn., crashed his No. 117 SB3-Suzuki GSXR while competing at Gibsonton, Fla.’s East Bay Raceway Park Friday.
Matt Norrie, of W. Suffield, Conn., won his second 1,200cc mini sprint main out of three. Relative Doug, Paul Corazzo, Sr., and Jimmy “Bubba” Broderick completed the top four. M. Norrie’s victory ousts Guerard, 298-284, who finished seventh among 12 runners.
Street stock masters Darren Jacobs, of Springfield, Mass., and Jonathen Routhier, of Canaan, Conn., returned to Mototown USA four-cylinder street stock victory lane. Jacobs put his 1995 Volkswagen Jetta No. 21 ahead of Brad Voglesong’s Dodge Neon and Jan. 27 winner Patrick William’s Acura Integra. He also heads Voglesong in the points standings, 320-226.
Routhier, who nursed a broken and overheating radiator Jan. 27, won the eight-cylinder edition over newcomer William Reiman. The victory also keeps the No. 031P Canaan Auto Parts 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass ahead of Dave Yardley III on their points table.
Hillclimb specialist Sherman Baumann, of Moodus, Conn., won his second straight modified lites main on the indoor clay quater-mile oval. The No. 36 homebuilt 1,000cc. GSXR-powered pilot swept the heat and feature over Nick Dupre and Michael Keeler. Baumann also ties the absent three-time feature winner Ryan Charland, of Somers, Conn., on their points chart.
