The CARQUEST SK 150 was first run on July 14, 2000 with Ted Christopher leading the final 131 laps of the race to take the victory. Christopher repeated his 150-lap win one year later by leading 136 laps. The 2002 edition of the race saw Ronnie Silk score his first career SK Modified® victory by overtaking Lloyd Agor on lap-123, and the 2003 race saw another first time SK Modified® winner as Frank Ruocco took down the win. Ruocco took the lead from Todd Owen on lap-21 and led the final 129 laps in a race that was run over two different Friday nights due to rain.
