Speedbowl’s Tom Fox Among Award Nominees At Speedway Expo 08’
Waterford, CT — Veteran Speedbowl competitor Tom Fox has been named among the nominees to receive a “Speedy Award” at Sunoco Speedway Expo 08’.
Slated for February 29 – March 2 at The Big E, Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA., Speedway Expo serves as a showcase for New England motorsports.
Fox joins fellow nominees Ted Christopher (Stafford Motor Speedway), Ron Bolduc (All-Star Speedway), Keith Rocco (Thompson & Stafford Speedways), JR Heffner, (Lebanon Valley Speedway), Roger Brown (ACT), Travis Adams (Oxford Plains), and, JR Baril: (Lee USA Speedway).
The “Speedy Best Weekly Racer Award” is presented during Speedway Expo to a competitor who “consistently ran at a higher level of performance week after week during the season”. This year will see the second edition of the award. The inaugural winner was Woody Pitkat.
Fox, a second-generation Waterford competitor is a former track champion with a career total of over sixty Speedbowl victories. Briefly sidelined last year with knee surgery, he rebounded to claim two feature victories before seasons-end. He was also awarded “Most Popular Driver” in 2007.
2008 will see Fox in a new role at the Speedbowl, as he assumes the duties of Chief Technical Inspector.
