D.J. Shaw preparing for PASS North Super Late Model run
Naples, ME — For teenager Dale Shaw Jr., success behind the wheel of a race car seems to be preordained .Better known by his nickname D.J., his family tree reads like a racing legacy. Race wins and championships abound. His father Dale Shaw is well known throughout the racing world as a Busch North Series Champion, a successful car builder and the first Pro All Stars Series (PASS) feature winner ever. His grandfather Steve Blood earned 46 feature wins and a track championship at Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway.
D.J. has already cemented his place in this racing family’s history book. He’s earned major race wins and a track championship against some of the toughest competition in New England. In 2008 he hopes to advance his career running a full fourteen race schedule with the PASS North Super Late Models, the fastest full-fendered short track racing series in the east.
D.J. has teamed up once again with car owners Julio and Rita Miglioli, a pair that take their racing just as seriously as the Shaws. They’ve already visited PASS victory lane with their Precision JLM sponsored entry and look forward to sharing a victory lane celebration with D.J. in the not too distant future. Another name familiar to PASS fans will be on board with the team in 2008. Mulkern Excavation, whose owner Scott Mulkern is a PASS North Super Late Model and Outlaw division race winner himself, will once again back Shaw’s racing efforts. Mulkern has sponsored D.J. since his go kart racing days, and can often be found in the pit area working with the race team.
A new Dale Shaw race car is currently under construction in the Shaw family race shop, and they intend to be well prepared for the PASS North opener at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway on Saturday April 19th.
Why PASS? Shaw says,”The PASS Super Late Models are fast and fun to race, and the competition is tough. PASS racing will give me the chance to gain more experience in long distance races at tracks that are mostly new to me. The Migliolis have given me a great opportunity, and I’ve set some pretty high goals for myself. We’ll go after the PASS Rookie of the Year title and try to end up in the top five in the point standings. If we can achieve that, it will be a super season.”
Will D.J. Shaw visit PASS victory lane in 2008? Don’t bet against it. After all, winning is a family tradition.
