Waterford, CT –The 12th annual Budweiser Modified Nationals featuring the SK-150 will kick off Waterford Speedbowl’s 58th consecutive season April 12-13. Ten divisions fill the busy agenda. It is preceded by a practice on April 5-6.
In addition to the Speedbowl’s SK, Late Model, Sportsman, Mini Stock and Legends, the Nationals will host the Northeastern Midget Association, the Pro4 Modifieds, AllStar Race Trucks, Allison Legacy Cars and NEMA’s new “Lites” division.
Dennis Gada, the 2003 winner, will start his quest for a Speedbowl-record seventh SK title in the SK-150.
The championship runs in the Speedbowl’s other NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions begins as well with extra-distance events on Sunday – a 50 lapper for the Late Models and 30 lappers for the Sportsman and Mini Modifieds. Bruce Thomas Jr. (Late Models) and Ken Cassidy Jr. (Minis) have made clear their intentions of defending their championships.
Michael Gervais Jr. will begin defense of his Legends crown as well.
NEMA’s 25-lap feature will kick off Sunday’s program. The Speedbowl is regarded as one of the premier Midget tracks in the east. There could be as many as nine former Speedbowl winners in the field including defending champion Ben Seitz and Joey Payne Jr.
All qualifying, beginning with SK-time trials, will be on Saturday. Horton’s 14.061 seconds lap set at last year’s Pepsi 300 is overall Speedbowl SK record. Chris Pasteryak’s 14.360 set in ’03 is the Nationals record.
Heats for all the other divisions will follow on Saturday followed by the Legends, Pro4, Truck, Allison Legacy and NEMA Lites features.
