Phillips, Smith & Perrego Make Mototown History

Guerard, Charland, D. Jacobs and Rocco Keep Winning

Windsor, CT — Justin Phillips, of W. Suffield, Conn., Ryan Smith, of Kunkletown, Pa., and Anthony Perrego, of Montgomery, N.Y. made MototownUSA Bud Light 12 Pack Indoor Racing Series history while winning their respective features Sunday afternoon.

Marc Guerard, of Hartford, Ryan Charland, of Somers, Darren Jacobs, of Springfield, Mass. and Keith Rocco, of Wallingford, meanwhile added to their feature victory totals on the indoor one-quarter-mile clay oval.

Phillips won his first 1,200cc mini sprint main by leading all 20 laps. The FOC-Suzuski GSXR No. 16 driver and 10-lap heat winner Matt Norrie finished one-two for the Day Hill Automotive team for the first time.

Smith won his first indoor 600cc micro sprint feature by pressuring current points leader Timex Morgan on their final turn. The Slingshots by Tobias’ 100-time feature winner is running the No. 2X JHM Tree Service PMP-GSXR in selected Northeastern events.

Perrego, 12, won Motorama’s first Slingshot feature by holding off Kyle Rohmer the whole way. The DMR Tobias-Briggs & Stratton Vanguard No. 1A driver from Oakland Valley Raceway Park is a Valley Middle School student.

The Slingshots were making one of their first New England appearances. The half-scaled spec dirt modified stock cars are to return with the New York State Mini Sprint Association here April 19.

Marc Guerard can call himself “Mr. Mototown” after winning another 750cc micro sprint main. Edward Leclerc and heat winner Ted Christopher chased the Ciammella Contracting No. 95 Henchcraft-GSXR home.

Ryan Charland put his new No. 10c H&E- Kawasaki to winning use in the Modified Lite main over Joe Anselmo and points leader Sherman Baumann.

D. Jacobs and his No. 21 1995 Volkswagen Jetta got the drop on Joe Jacobs and Brad Voglesong in the four-cylinder street stock main.

Rocco made his best “for sale” advertisement on his No. 6 Chevrolet Camaro by winning the eight-cylinder street stock feature over Jay Pepin and points leader Jonathen Routhier. NEETS enduro champ Richard Petey, of Hackettstown, joined fellow former Wall (N.J.) Speedway titlist Bill Vanderveen on ths starting grid.
