Hall, D. Jacobs Last-To-First in MototownUSA Mains

Geuerard Doubles Again;  Morgan, R. Charland Also Win

Windsor, CT — Ray Hall, of Monterey, Mass., and Darren Jacobs, of Springfield, Mass., came from last place to win their respective MototownUSA Bud Light 12 Pack Indoor Racing Series stick car features Sunday afternoon.

Marc “Mr. MototownUSA” Guerard, of Hartford, Conn., won his third 1,200 c.c. and 750 c.c. sprint car features of the series. Timex Morgan, of Rochester, Mass., and Ryan Charland, of Somers, Conn., won their respective third and sixth 600 c.c. micro sprint and Modified Lite mains. The indoor one-quarter- mile clay oval’s program held a moment of silence to honor the late North Eastern Midget Association driver Shane Howard.

Hall overcame an opening lap spin to narrowly win the eight cylinder street stock feature over divisional points leader Jonathen Routhier. Hall, who won his first 12 Pack feature here Jan. 27, climbed from 10th to fourth by lap 11 when Routhier and Dave Yardley III spun to the rear on lap 11.

Hall and his No. 4 Team Formel Chevrolet Monte Carlo took the lead from Bill Stockert on a lap 13 restart and Routhier also advanced to second place by lap 16. The duo finished the last four laps almost nose to tail with Stockert third among seven finishers. Routhier and Hall were grided on the frint row after winning their two 10-lap heats.

Routhier, of Canaan, Conn., has a virtual lock on the divisional championship with the 12 Pack series finale set for noon April 20. The Slingshots by Tobias are to make their second MototownUSA appearance by vying for a $1,500-to win Unique Autosports main.

MototownUSA announcer Zeke O’Connell asked everyone for a moment of silence for NEMA driver Hammond at 3:31 p.m. prior to the eight-cylinder race. Hammond, of Halifax, Maine, was killed during the midgets’ part of the Thompson (Conn.) International Speedwayannual Icebreaker program.

D. Jacobs used the four cylinder street stock feature’s first 10 laps to come from fifth to shadow laeder Brad Voglesong. Voglesong, who got the drop on polesitter Joe Jacobs at the start, seemed headed for his first MototownUSA main victory before D. Jacobs’ No. 21 1995 Volkswagen Jetta filled his mirrors.

D. Jacobs passed Voglesong on lap 13 and never looked back on Voglesong or heat winner J. Jacobs. Both Jacobs – who are unrelated – are tied atop their divisional points table before April 20.

Guerard is making his 750 micro and 1,200 mini srpint double victory a habit. The Ciammella Contracting/Bigelo Electric Craftsman No. 95 Suzuki GSXR pilot won his 750 heat and led flag-to-flag over William Eggiman and Edward Leclerc.

The Marc Guerard Racing Engines maven switched to his 1,200c.c. GSXR version of his No. 95 to win the mini sprint heat and feature. Points leader Matt Norrie and a back-from-the rear Pat Kuerner rounded out the top three of six finishers.

Guerard has done the 750/1,200 spint feature double Jan. 5 and March 7.

Morgan and his No. 2 Lafler- 636c.c. Kawasaki unwound the 600 c.c. micro sprint field, taking the heat and main over Richard Wood, Jr. and Robert Vivona.

Charland won a hard-fought sixth 12 Pack Modified Lite main. The Chraland Motorsports/Bilstein Shocks No. 10C H&E/ 1,200 cc GSXR became the main’s third and final leader after Joseph Anselmo spun before him on lap 17. 12 Pack debutant Wayne H. Tack and Wayne Abair rounded out the top three while heat winner Nick Dupree was demoted to fifth for rough riding.

Sherman Baumann, of Moodus, Conn., retains a commanding points lead despite dropping out with a collision-damaged left front toe-in.
