Coby Sets Fast Time for Bud Mod Nats
Waterford, CT — With a lap of 14.105, Doug Coby of Milford set fast time and established a new qualifying record for Sunday’s Budweiser Modified Nationals at the Waterford Speedbowl. Kenny Horton (14.124), Matt Hirschman (14.124), Dennis Gada (14.224), and Jeff Pearl (14.295) completed the top-5. A redraw tomorrow will determine the top-10 starting positions.
Feature winners were Mark Bakaj (Legends), Andy Lindeman (American Race Trucks), and, Norm Wrenn (Pro-4 Modifieds).
Jesse Slate won the 10-lap NEMA Lite exhibition event.
Woody Pitkat won the 20-lap SK Non-Qualifiers race, followed by Don Fowler, and Jeff Malave.
Other qualifying event winners for Sunday’s features were Ron Yuhas, Ed Reed Jr. (Late Model), Dave Trudeau, Joe Curioso (Sportsman), Ken Cassidy Jr., Ken Lyke III (Mini Stock), Erica Santos, Greg Stoehr (Northeast Midget Association).
Sunday’s schedule includes the SK Modified-150 along with features for the Northeastern Midget Association (25), Late Model (50), Sportsman (30), and Mini Stocks (30).
Grandstands open at 9:30 with the traditional Pit Party beginning at 10:15.
