2008 ALNRS Season About to Begin at Lee USA
Newburgh, NY — In just three days the ALNRS will finally kick off their 2008 season at Lee USA Speedway at their annual Governors Cup 200. Most of the teams will be on hand Saturday shaking down their cars before Sundays big event.
It’s been a long winter for the ALNRS drivers and some of the top teams in 2008 are looking to start off where they finished in last years Octoberfest. With last years top three drivers having moved up, 2007 Rookie of the year Kristy Chaves will be looking to be this years top gun and already has her eyes set on the 2008 Championship Trophy.
Several other rookies from the class of 2007 are sure to be right on Kristy’s tail and will take what they’ve learned in their first year in the ALNRS to be top contenders in 2008. Last years youngest driver Cody Gneiting is another driver who will be happy to return to Lee after finishing 3rd in last years Octoberfest, his best finish of the seasons and just two weeks after taking one of the hardest hits of the season at The Waterford Speedbowl.
Other drivers to watch will be series veteran James Logan and Shannon Smith. Both drivers will be entering their third season. However both drivers have not had the best of luck at Lee in the past and are looking to change that. Another driver to keep your eye on will be young gun Tommy Barrett who in only three races last year showed some real talent. Tommy is sure to be one of the top contenders for the 2008 aDP Rivet Rookie of the Year. The series also has some new talent entering the series this year as former Sugar Hill Track Champion Kyle Poodiack and former quarter midget driver Stephanie Berardi will be behind the wheel for the first time in 2008. So come out and join us for what is sure to be an exciting start to the 2008 ALNRS season.
