Points And Positions Up For Grabs
Waterford, CT — Points and positions will be up for grabs in Saturday night’s 35-lap SK-Modified feature, the headline event of another five-division program at Waterford Speedbowl. Diego Monahan takes the SK point lead in the evening but it is a very short one.
Two “guaranteed” spots for the May 3 Connecticut National Guard True Value Modified Series 100 are also part of the spoils. The highest two “interested” finishers will get the slots.
The Late Models are scheduled for a 35-lapper while the Mini Stocks, Sportsman and Legends will go 20. Qualifying begins at 5 PM.
A scant six points separate the top four – Monahan, Justin Gaydosh, Dennis Gada and Tyler Chadwick – in the SK standings Jeff Pearl is 12 off the pace in fifth. Despite it being very early, points are already a concern in a division loaded with contenders.
The “spots” continue a unique relationship between the ‘Bowl and TVMS. Pearl, Dennis Gada and Diego and Shawn Monahan are among the Speedbowl regulars who have taken advantage of the ‘Bowl-TVMS arrangement over the past three years. Pearl and Shawn Monahan would find the “spot” especially helpful
Bruce Thomas Jr. (Late Models) and Randy Churchill (Mini Stocks) are both two-for-two so far. Dwayne Dorr owns a piece of the record (five) for consecutive wins including the opener, doing it two years ago. Allen Coates won the first four Sportsman features back in 1998.
Mark Bakaj, the winner at the Modified Nationals, leads the Legends back. Jason Palmer and Shaun Buffington are top threats as well.
