John Zudell and Amy Cook have been named to management positions at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Zudell, named to the newly-created position of Vice President of Operations and Development, is responsible for the management of the speedway’s daily operations/maintenance functions, construction projects, and continued development of the facility.
Prior to his arrival at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Zudell served as the Construction Manager at Lowe’s Motor Speedway and later became the Senior Construction Manager for Speedway Motorsports, Inc. Under the direction of SMI Chairman Bruton Smith, Zudell oversaw more than $425 million dollars of design, development, contracting, and construction administration at Bristol Motor Speedway, Infineon Raceway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“John has a wealth of experience in the construction and development of racing facilities as a member of the Speedway Motorsports, Inc. family,” said Jerry Gappens, Executive Vice President and General Manager of New Hampshire Motor Speedway. “I am thankful that Bruton (O. Bruton Smith, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Speedway Motorsports, Inc.) is allowing us to utilize his skills as we build toward the future.”
Zudell, 50, graduated from Valparaiso University in 1980 and obtained a master’s degree in civil engineering from Oklahoma City University in 1984. He and his wife, Sharon, reside in Loudon, N.H.

Cook is responsible for the day-to-day management of the speedway’s accounting and financial systems.
Before joining the speedway, Cook served as a Senior Auditor for Deloitte and directed the planning, execution, and reporting of audit assignments for clients in the Charlotte, N.C. area.
“In addition to her solid background in finance, Amy brings a lot of energy and enthusiasm for her role here,” Gappens remarked. “She stepped into her new responsibilities at full-speed and is a welcome addition to our management team.”
Cook, 26, graduated from Meredith College in 2003 and obtained a master’s degree in accounting from North Carolina State University in 2004. She resides in Manchester, N.H. and is engaged to Bobby Borbet of Charlotte, N.C.
