Pinkham Rocco Among Speedbowl Winners
Waterford, CT — Upon his first-ever visit to the Waterford Speedbowl on Saturday evening, Dave Pinkham of Buxton, Maine went home a winner celebrating the second True Value Modified Racing Series win of his career. During the early laps it was Ed Dachenhausen and Les Hinckley setting the pace until coming together on lap-42. Both were sent to the rear of the field, and resulting restart saw Dwight Jarvis inheriting the lead. On a late-race restart, Pinkham slipped-by Jarvis, going on to win by several car-lengths. The race was marred by a red flag period with 65-laps remaining when Jimmy Blewett became airborne, flipped, and slammed into the fourth-turn wall on his roof. Blewett was uninjured. Following Pinkham was Dwight Jarvis, Les Hinckley, Chris Pasteryak, and, Vinny Annarummo Jr.
Other feature winners were Keith Rocco (SK Modified), Ed Reed Jr. (Late Model), Chris “Moose” Douton (Sportsman), and, Jeff “Soup” Civardi (Mini Stock).
Keith Rocco recorded his first-ever Speedbowl SK Modified win, narrowly defeating Dennis Gada and Ron Yuhas Jr. With 10-laps remaining, Rocco slipped by Yuhas, battling right down to the wire with Gada before pulling ahead following a late-race restart. Ron Silk and Rob Janovic Jr. completed the top-5.
Ed Reed Jr. notched the Late Model main event, passing Vin Esposito shortly after halfway, going on to win by a wide margin over Bruce Thomas Jr., Ron Yuhas Jr., Joe Curioso III, and Tim Jordan. Current Sportsman point leader Chris “Moose” Douton scored his first feature of the season over Al Stone III, and Walt Hovey Jr. Completing the top-5 was Ronnie Oldham Jr., and last week’s winner, Chuck Rogers. In the Mini Stocks, veteran Jeff “Soup” Civardi took a popular win (his first since 2006), over Lou Bellisle, Ken Cassidy Jr., Chris Williams, and, Mark Panaroni.
