Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday Begins; NEMA Part of Saturday Agenda

Waterford, CT — The Waterford Speedbowl’s Wild n’ Wacky Wednesday, about to begin it’s eighth season, has become New England’s premier mid-week racing program. Based on affordability for both fans and competitors, the series is a true bargain at only $7 for an adult admission.

Wild n’ Wacky begins Wednesday (May 7) with the Legends, Super-X Cars, X-Cars, and X-Modifieds. Leading strong rosters are defending champions Jason Palmer (Legends), John Yagmin (Super-X), Brad Voglesong (X-Car), and, Bubby Brouwer (X-Mod).

Already red hot, the NASCAR Whelen All American Series championship battles continue Saturday night. Last week’s winner Keith Rocco has climbed to within twenty points of SK leader Dennis Gada, the latter after a seventh championship.

Other division point leaders include Bruce Thomas Jr. (Late Model) with Ron Yuhas Jr. trailing by eight, Chris “Moose” Douton (Sportsman) leads Al Stone III by six, and Ken Cassidy Jr. (Mini Stock) tops Randy Churchill Jr. by six. In the Saturday Legends, its Jason Palmer by a mere four point spread over Michael Gervais Jr.

Speeds are incredibly high this season, the SKs regularly turning low 13 second laps. In four of the five features last week, including the True Value Modified Series, winning passes were made in the outside lane.

The Northeastern Midget Association returns Saturday night as well. Widely regarded as the the perfect Midget venue, lightning-quick speeds at the Speedbowl are the norm for one of New England’s most historically significant short track divisions.

Grandstands open at 4pm on Saturday with qualifying getting underway at 5.
