Stafford Motor Speedway to Participate in NASCAR Day 2008
Stafford Springs, CT — Stafford Motor Speedway is once again making plans to participate in NASCAR Day on May 16. Funds generated from NASCAR Day will benefit The NASCAR Foundation, which supports over 30 driver and industry charities.
To commemorate the fifth-annual celebration of NASCAR Day, Stafford Motor Speedway will host a pit-crew challenge. Participating fans may sign up at the Collectible Booth on the midway on May 16. Cliff Nelson of ECI / Cliff Nelson Motorsports is donating $100.00 for NASCAR Day and Cliff is challenging all Stafford teams to match his $100.00 contribution and make NASCAR Day 2008 at Stafford the best NASCAR Day yet!
On NASCAR Day, fans, companies, schools and organizations show their support of the charitable community of NASCAR by donating $5 for a commemorative NASCAR Day lapel pin.
“We are really excited to participate in NASCAR Day again this year,” said Lisa Arute, Executive V.P. Stafford Motor Speedway. “NASCAR Day is a great program that supports a great cause. The Stafford Motor Speedway family of fans, crews, drivers and sponsors have supported this cause since its inception and have been generous in their donations, which exceed $6,000.00.”
NASCAR Day is celebrating it’s fifth anniversary this year! Annually held on the Friday prior to the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge in May, NASCAR Day has become one of the most important and fastest-growing traditions in the NASCAR Family. Since the first celebration in 2004, NASCAR Day has raised almost $5 Million for the charitable initiatives so close to the hearts of the NASCAR Family. By 2007, NASCAR Day has grown to include close to 3,000 companies across the country, raising $1.6 Million for The NASCAR Foundation and its Family of Charities.
Begun in 2004, NASCAR Day has raised nearly $5 million to date. If you are interested in getting involved, you can contact Stafford Motor Speedway or visit The NASCAR Day Web site at WWW.NASCAR.COM/NASCARDAY.
