On Saturday, It’s “Scout Night At The Speedbowl”

Waterford, CT — This Saturday evening its “Scout Night At The Speedbowl” as the shoreline oval plays host to the Boy & Girl Scouts Of America.

All Scouts and Troop Leaders in uniform will be admitted free.

Greeting the Scouts and offering an informational presentation on the local motorsports scene will be multi-year racing veteran and 2007 SK Modified champion Rob Janovic. Also present will be his teams always-pristine # 51 machine, offering a rare up-close & personal view of one of the top cars in the track’s premier division.

Speedbowl Public Relations Coordinator and New England racing historian Dave Dykes will be there to answer any questions regarding the decades-long tradition of racing at the track that’s affectionately known as Connecticut’s “Shoreline Oval”.

“Scout Night” has generated a tremendous amount of interest in the last few weeks,” says Billy Roberts, the Speedbowl’s Director of Marketing. “I’ve been on the phone a great deal regarding the event. This gives us an opportunity to share a little bit of what we do here with the local Scout Troops. I was a Scout myself, and we’re honored to play host to such great organizations.”

Long a part of the American landscape, The Boy/Girl Scouts of America were both formed in the early-1900’s, dedicated to the goals of training youth in responsible citizenship, character development and self-reliance through participation in a wide variety of outdoor activities, educational programs, and public service. Membership in both groups is in the millions world-wide.

Saturday action gets underway with grandstands opening at 4:00, and feature racing starting at 7:00.
