Billings, Maskell, Vogelsong & Gertsch Among Speedbowl Winners

Waterford, CT — Glen Billings won the 20-lap Legends feature race at the Waterford Speedbowl Wednesday evening.

Other feature winners were Michael Maskell III (Super X Car), “Bad Brad” Voglesong (X Car), Billy Gerstch Jr. (X Modified), Jesse State, (NEMA Lites) and Kathy Civardi (Women On Wheels)

Billings and Morgan swapped the lead several times over the final circuits with Billings prevailing by a nose. Following was Mike Alcaro, Mark Bakaj, and George Whitney.

In the 20-lap X-Car main, it was defending champion “Bad Brad” Voglesong experiencing a bonus night. Not only did he steal the checkers, he and wife Lisa also celebrated their wedding anniversary. Taking the lead from Dustin Gage following a late-race restart, the popular Voglesong went on to win by several lengths over Gage, Patrick Williams, Steve Violette, and Rich Hurne.

In one of the most exciting 20-lap Super-X Car features in recent memory, Michael Maskell II came from fourth-to-first on the last lap when the lead cars mixed-it-up, the field scattering on the front chute. Rounding-out the top-5 was Greg Moran, Jon Porter, Rob Corey, and Greg Moran.

A record field of X-Modifieds went the 20-lap distance caution-free with Billy Gerstch taking the victory. Richard Fratus led early before yielding to Richard Durkee IV. Gerstch took the advantage on the final circuit, going-on to record his second victory of the season.

Kathy Civardi Won the “Women On Wheels” 10-lap feature, and it was Jesse State winning the first-ever NEMA Lights event.

The evening saw a record 130 cars signed-into the pits.
