Smashing Good Time Had By All At Speedbowl’s “Night Of Destruction”

Waterford, CT — It was simply a smashing good time at the “Night of Destruction” Sunday evening at the Bowl’.

The evening commenced with a game of “Ask Shawn Monahan” as one of the Bowl’s star drivers along with Master Of Ceremonies Matt Bucker entertained the small-fry in the grandstand with a game of “multiple choice” questions about the racing career of Mr. Monahan. Prizes were provided for the kids via Courville’s Garage.

Next on the agenda was the much anticipated Courville’s Garage School Bus race. Five-laps of swaying yellow student transporters slamming & banging into each other, literally a teachers nightmare! At the end, it was Greg Coven prevailing in the spectacle, narrowly defeating veteran bus chauffer “Sick Rick” Whittle.

Casting a plume of thick, white vapor into the evening skies over the shoreline oval, the burnout contest was a smoking success with the large, hearty crowd. Voted the best rubber-burner of the evening was none other than Shawn “The Hammer” Monahan who utilized the entire front-chute to display his prowess in destroying Goodyear’s finest. Finishing a smoky second was the always-entertaining “Bad Brad” Voglesong.

Posing as budding candidates for the Pro Bowlers Tour, the Monahan Brothers team narrowly defeated the formative duo of Volgesong & Williams in a rousing round of Speedway Bowling – a Speedbowl original.
“Earthquake Jake” Patton of Tolland, CT. bashed & bludgeoned his way to a stellar victory in the 4-cylinder Demo Derby, while in the 8-cylinder spectacle it was Tim “Destruction” Dubois getting the better of a stellar fleet of powerful Crash Crazies.

Finishing the evening-off (in more ways than one) was the School Bus Demolition Derby. After the smoke cleared and the debris settled, it was “Billy “Big Rig” Batalooka reigning supreme after a suspenseful game of Cat n’ Mouse with the always flamboyant “Sick Rick” Whittle.
