North-South Shootout Promises to Be Bigger & Better in 2008
Lexington, NC: The 6th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout(TM) promises to be better than ever in 2008 when it returns to Concord Motorsport Park in Concord, NC, in=2 0November. The Tour-Type Modifieds of the North and South will continue to share the spotlight with the ultra-fast Supermodifieds from across the country. The weekend’s support divisions will include the popular SK-Type Modifieds and authentic Vintage racing divisions. Joining the strong line-up also will be the Street Stocks.
This year, for the first time, the headlining Tour-Type Modified will compete in 125-laps of green flag racing; up from 100 in years past.
“We added the extra distance to the race to boost the excitement,” said Promoter Charles Kepley of C&C Racing Promotions. “The Shootout will be more competitive than ever and that is what keeps the racers and the fans coming back each year.”
The Tour-Modified main event is not the only expansion planned for the 6th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout(TM). In 2008, the annual event will be extended to include two nights of racing at the ¼-mile speedway located on the grounds of Concord Motorsport Park; making the event a five-day racing extravaganza. Divisions competing in early week activities will include Ford Focus Midgets, Four-Cylinders, Champ Karts and Legends.
The action of the North-South Shootout(TM) kicks off on Tuesday, November 4th and Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at the short track. Thursday, November 6, Concord Motorsport Park will host an open practice on the 1/2 -mile tri-oval for the Tour-Type Modifieds, SK-Type Modifieds, Street Stocks, and all Vintage Classes. (Supermo difieds will not be eligible for the Thursday practice session).
On Friday, November 7th, qualifying will be held for all divisions. Time trials will be run for the Tour-Type Modifieds, Supermodifieds, and SK-Type Modifieds followed by heat races for all five of the weekend divisions. The Street Stocks will have their feature event on Friday night.
The 6th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout(TM) Modified 125 and the 50-lap East-West Supermodified Shootout will highlight the activities on Saturday, November 8th. The 50-lap feature for the SK-Type Modifieds and Vintage divisions will also compete in feature action on Saturday.
