Rain forces postponement of Phil’s Propane Late Model 50

Seekonk, MA — With steady rain coming down, and a forecast of thundershowers throughout the evening, Seekonk Speedway management was forced to postpone the Phil’s Propane Late Model 50 Lap main even, and all activities for the evening.

Only 6 Saturday Night events scheduled for the rest of our 63rd season, with 5 for the Pro Stocks, and our point chases are not close to being determined. Fred Astle, looking for his 3rd ARC Pro Stock crown, holds a slim 13 point margin over Tom Scully Jr in the Pro Stocks. In the Late Models, Gerry DeGasparre has used his 4 out of five winning streak to not only take over the Late Model points, but has been able to use his consistency to widen his margin over Kyle Casper to 35 points. Street Stock point leader Paul Lallier has yet to visit victory lane this season, but has been able to finish in the top ten just about every week, and holds a 15 point advantage over reigning title holder Sparky Arsenault. Mike Cavallaro is hoping to use the final 6 events to keep his spot at the top of the Seekonk Sport Truck title chase. Currently, Bill Prisco sits 19 points behind the two time champion.

How will they fare over the final month and a half? Be sure to stop in and check it out.

Saturday night racing resumes with the 11th Annual “Boston Louie” Seymour Memorial for the
NEMA Midgets. Randy Cabral leads the charge in one of the biggest Midget Events in the east. Jeff Abold is off his first win at Seekonk on July 16th, and will be looking to repeat. Greg Stohr was back in victory lane this past weekend in CT, and is looking to get back to Seekonk Victory Lane. In what has been known at the biggest midget race on the east coast, all drivers will be on the hunt for “Boston Louie” Victory Lane.

Also on tap will be the ARC Pro Stocks, Late Models, Street Stocks and Seekonk Sport Trucks. General admission gates open at 3, with the first green flag dropping at 6pm.

Fast Friday racing action returns on Friday, August 8, with the Seekonk Youth Racing Association, Pure Stocks and Kart racing. Post time is at 7pm, with a general admission of just $5.00, with kids 12 And under FREE.
