Travis Kittleson Makes White Mountain PASS North Plans

Floridian Will Drive for Maine’s Cushman Competition Team

Concord, NC — North and South will come together in the quest to win in Super Late Model racing as Floridian Travis Kittleson joins up with the #29 Cushman Competition team out of Maine for the September 13th PASS North event at White Mountain Motorsports Park (NH).

Both driver and team have separately won more than their share of races and championships in recent years during Florida Speedweeks.  They recently joined forces to compete in the Labor Day Weekend Peterbilt 250 at New Brunswick’s Speedway 660 together.  Kittleson won his heat race and led laps early, but flat tires kept him to a finish of 11th.

“Both parties have some unfinished business for White Mountain,” said Kittleson.  “We had a dominant car at Speedway 660 in practice, the heat race and early in the feature.  Then we had a few things go wrong.  So we’d like some redemption for that race.  [Team owner] Jay Cushman and I are both fierce competitors who want to win at all costs, and we worked well together.  So it just made sense to go to another race.”

“We had such a great time in Canada,” said Cushman.  “We had a dominant racecar, and after the race we talked about doing some more races together.  We ran well and didn’t get the finish that we felt that we earned.  We really wanted to finish the job that we started, so with White Mountain coming up, we all decided to support PASS North and run that event.”

When Kittleson, who is currently running a limited schedule of NASCAR Nationwide Series events, got the call to go to White Mountain from Cushman, it didn’t take him long to say yes.

“I said right away, ‘Come on, let’s do it.’  It’s always a challenge for me to go to a new track like this,” said Kittleson.  “I’ve never seen the track before, but I’ve talked to a few people, and they keep telling me how beautiful of a place it is right there in the middle of the mountains.  I’ve heard it is a real racy place too; I can’t wait to fly up there.”

Once Kittleson and Cushman get to White Mountain, they plan to be contenders for the victory.

“I’ve never been to the track before, so it could be a little bit of a challenge,” said Kittleson.  “There are some tracks where it takes me a little bit of practice to get used to the place, and there are some places that I get a hang of right away.  But we’re hoping to be competitive right away; and knowing Jay and the team, and the car that they brought to New Brunswick, I’d say we’ll be competitive right away.”

“We have always run well at White Mountain,” said Cushman.  “We also have a really good motor in the car from Brad Watson at Watson Racing Heads, so we should be really good.”

The PASS North race at White Mountain Motorsports Park is scheduled for Saturday night, September 13th.
