10:55 PM – Woody Pitkat won the last SK Modified feature of the Friday night NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action. Keith Rocco, Zach Sylvester, Ted Christopher and Chris Jones rounded out the top-5 finishers.
10:38 PM – Lap 36 – A crash off of turn 2 collected Todd Owen, Wade Mattesen, Steven Reed, Kirk Zervas, and Donny Travaglin. Two flat tires for Frank Ruocco. Mattesen’s #6 is stopped near the crash and the tow truck is pushing the car trying to get it refired.
Corey Hutchings just in time for the restart; Just a moment ago, Frank Ruocco returned along with Curt Brainard. Pitkat leads Rocco, Jones, Sylvester, Hietala, Christopher, Reed and Horton.
10:36 PM – 1 to go at the line for the field.
10:34 PM – Brainard is back in his car and the #96 team is going to try to replace the upper A frame on the car and make it back out to complete the feature.
10:28 PM – 5th caution of the event on lap 36th for a multi-car crash in turn 1 off of the restart. Involved include: Keith Carzello, Emil Downey, Curt Brainard, Jeff Malave, Doug Coby, Richie Pallai, Jr., and Kirk Zervas. The scariest moment of the accident was when Coby’s white #15 got airborne over Brainard’s #96. Glenn Griswold was able to drive away and is on pit road along with Corey Hutchings. Griswold has rejoined the field.
The running order: Pitkat, Rocco, Jones, Sylvester, Hietala, Christopher, Ruocco, Mattesen, Reed, Horton, Travaglin, Owen, Salzarulo, Zervas, Carzello.
10:23 PM – Lap 36 – 4th caution for a spin by Kirk Zervas #99 in turn 3. The running order: Pitkat, Rocco, Jones, Sylvester, Hietala, Christopher, Ruocco, Mattesen, Reed, Brainard.
10:19 PM – Caution on the field for 2 cars stopped in turns 1 and 2 – Richie Pallai, Jr. #2 and Todd Owen #90. 31 laps into the event, Corey Hutchings is on pit lane. The 23 of Donny Travaglin is penalized for overagression into Pallai.
The running order is as follows: Pitkat, Jones, Rocco, Christopher, Sylvester, Ruocco, Hietala, Malave, Mattesen.
10:09 PM – Caution is back out on lap 12 for a spin in turn 1 by Keith Carzello. Woody Pitkat and Chris Jones spun in turn 1 battling for the lead and would have lost valuable positions had the caution not come out. Since the field reverts to the last completed lap, Pitkat leads Jones for the restart. Hutchings, Mattesen and Horton are the top 5. Six through ten are: Ruocco, Rocco, Hietala, Malave, and Pallai.
10:04 PM – SK Modifieds are under yellow after a spin involving Jeff Baral and Keith Carzello, 10 laps into the feature.
Chris Jones, Woody Pitkat, Corey Hutchings, Wade Mattesen and Kenny Horton are the top-5 at this point.
The SK Modifieds are pacing the track before their 40-lap feature with Chris Jones and Corey Hutchings on the front row.
In the Late Model feature, Joe Rzeszutek used a fast car to capture the 30-lap Late Model feature in his #49. Corey Hutchings finished second, while Ryan Posocco took down the final podium position. Third place finish unofficially makes Ryan Posocco the 2008 Late Model champion, his fourth division crown.
Mark Bakaj overcame some late race drama to score the SK Light Modified win over Joey Allegro, Jr. and Shawn Brule.
Todd LaPorta of Waterbury, CT took down his first win of the DARE Stock season over Robert Thompson and Matt Chiarizio.
Andrew Durand was third on the final circuit of the 20-lap Limited Late Model feature. When Sean Foster and Shawn Thibeault came together, it provided Durand the opportunity to score the victory by .460 seconds over Ed Charette, Jr. and points leader Bill Davis.
