Motorsports Publicist Ron Meade Passes
Ron Meade, an original staff member of New Hampshire Motor Speedway and a long-time motorsports publicist, passed away on Saturday in Concord, N.H. after a brief illness. Ron most recently served as the Director of Special Projects at the speedway. He was also very actively involved in the promotion of travel and tourism throughout New Hampshire.
“Ron Meade never stopped promoting New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the surrounding Lakes Region,” said Jerry Gappens, executive vice president and general manager of the speedway. “Ron had a strong passion for all forms of motorsports, and a strong knowledge and appreciation of the sport’s history. His insight will be greatly missed. We have not only lost a valuable member of our team, we have lost a great friend as well. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Gail, and his daughters, Linda and Susan.”
Affectionately known as “Uncle Ron” to friends and colleagues, he had always supported the Lakes Region Association Scholarship fund for high school students continuing their education in travel and tourism. Recently the Association established the Ron Meade “On the Track to Tourism” Annual Scholarship to honor his enormous contributions to the region and the state. Gifts and donations in remembrance of Ron can be sent to: The Lakes Region Hospitality Scholarship Fund, Ron Meade “On the Track to Tourism” Annual Scholarship, PO Box 430, New Hampton, NH 03256.
