Speedbowl Pioneer “Wild Bill” Scrivener
First making headlines in the Speedbowl’s popular Bombers (a support class that ran from 1958 – 66), the late “Wild Bill” Scrivener claimed the division’s 1965 championship in the famed Bonville Bros. #4 Coupe. Later advancing to the Modifieds, the pioneering Speedbowl chauffer had scored a combined career total of over thirty feature victories before retiring at the close of the 1976 campaign. “Wild Bills” last main event triumph came on Easter Sunday of 1974 in the Dodge-powered Rambler American-bodied car pictured above.
