MacDonald & Christopher Win Lincoln Electric/Airgas Track Championships
Loudon, NH — Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, Mass. has won the 2008 Camping World Series East Lincoln Electric/Airgas Track Championship at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Driving the No. 71 Grimm Construction Inc. Chevrolet, Eddie won the Heluva Good! 125 in June and completed his “sweep” by winning the second Heluva Good! 125 in September. This is MacDonald’s first Lincoln Electric/Airgas Track Championship.
Matt Kobyluck of Uncasville, Conn. has placed second in the Camping World Series East Track Championship standings. Behind the wheel of the No. 40 Mohegan Sun Resort Chevrolet, Matt finished third at both the June and September Heluva Good! 125 races. Kobyluck has also captured the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Series East Championship.
Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 1 Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, is third in the Lincoln Electric/Airgas Track Championship point standings. The Knoxville, Tenn. native finished second at the June and eighth in September.
Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn. has won his third Lincoln Electric/Airgas Track Championship at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Driving the No. 36 Al-Lee Installations Chevrolet, Ted was scored second in a photo finish at the New England 100 in June and won the “two-segment” New Hampshire 100 in September. Christopher went on to win the 2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Championship. He has also won the Lincoln Electric/Airgas Track Championship at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 2004 and 2005.
Ryan Preece of Berlin, Conn. has finished in second place in the Track Championship standings behind the wheel of the No. 3 FJ Hubeny/Reynold’s Auto Wrecking Chevrolet. Preece was eighth in June’s New England 100 and was third in September’s New Hampshire 100. In only his second year on the Tour, he has become a solid performer at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
Jimmy Blewett has captured third place in the Track Championship point standings. In his No. 19 United Crane/Ling Trucking Chevrolet, this Howell, N.J. native finished 13th in June at the New England 100 and second in September at the New Hampshire 100. He was tied in the Track Championship point standings with Eric Beers of Northampton, Pa., but won the tie-breaker with his second place run in September.
The Lincoln Electric/Airgas Championship awards a total purse of $10,000 to the top three finishing drivers of each series at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway races based on the point system for the NASCAR Camping World Series East and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
The awards will be presented at the speedway’s Annual Holiday Dinner on Wednesday, December 11, 2008.
