Dave Dykes’ Racing Through Time
Twice a champion during a career that spanned but a mere decade, Dick Beauregard helped to sell a lot of tickets at the track once-known as the “New London-Waterford” Speedbowl.
One of the more flamboyant chauffeurs of the period, his style was a perfect-fit for the rough & tumble post-war beginnings of the sport.
This ancient Shany Lorenzent image captures him during the twilight of his career in 1962, a campaign that yielded the track title for “Dirty Dick” and the potent Maffei-Kensel coupe. That’s New England Auto Racing Hall Of Famer Billy Harmon over to the right in the Beaber-Engineering # 5.
