Stafford to Honor Its 2008 Track Champions at 39th Annual Awards Ceremony on Nov. 14th

Stafford Springs, CT — With the 2008 Stafford Motor Speedway season concluded, the speedway will honor its track champions at the 39th annual Stafford Motor Speedway Champions Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 14, 2008 at the La Renaissance Banquet Facility in East Windsor. A crowd of over 500 guests is expected to be on hand as the Connecticut half-mile hands out its post-season awards.

In addition to recognizing the 2008 track champions, other prestigious awards, including Most Improved Driver, Most Popular Driver, and the Reliable Welding & Speed Rookie of the Year awards will also be presented. Stafford Motor Speedway will also recognize the top-20 finishers from the 2008 SK Modified®, Late Model, SK Light, Limited Late Model, and DARE Stock points standings.

Headlining the night’s festivities, Keith Rocco will be recognized as the 2008 SK Modified® Champion, which is the first SK Modified® championship for Rocco and his car owners, Jean-Guy and Brigitte Poulin. Rocco outlasted 6-time Stafford SK Modified® track champion Ted Christopher to take the title. Ryan Posocco took the 2008 Late Model championship with an amazing season that saw him win 7 times and finish in the top-3 in 14 of 17 races this season. Joe Allegro, Jr. outlasted three other drivers in the final race of the year to take the 2008 SK Light Modified track championship in the closest point battle at Stafford. Bill Davis outlasted defending track champion Sean Foster to take home the Limited Late Model track championship, and Norm Sears etched his name into the Stafford record books alongside Phil Rondeau and Posocco as the only drivers to win three consecutive track championships by taking the DARE Stock track title.

Stafford Motor Speedway Most Popular Driver candidates include Ted Christopher, Woody Pitkat, and Frank Ruocco from the SK Modified® division, Scott Foster, Jr., Dillon Moltz, and Ryan Posocco from the Late Model division, Heather DesRochers, Chris Matthews, and Harry Wheeler from the SK Light division, Carla Botticello, Andrew Durand, and Sean Foster from the Limited Late Model division, and Kyle Casagrande, Matt Chiarizio, and Dan Flannery from the DARE Stock division. The Most Popular Driver winners were voted upon by the fans, who submitted Most Popular Driver Ballots from the PitStopper Magazine to the Speedway Office throughout the 2008 season.

Reliable Welding and Speed Rookie of the Year honors will go to Steven Reed from the SK Modified® division, Brian Chapin from the Late Model division, Adam Skowyra from the SK Light division, and Carla Botticello from the Limited Late Model division.

Shuttle service to and from LaRenaissance is available for both hotels and room reservations will be subject to space availability.
