Pivotal NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Races Highlight 2009 New Hampshire Motor Speedway Major Event Schedule
Loudon, NH — Two pivotal NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races highlight the 2009 major event schedule at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The LENOX Industrial Tools 301 on Sunday, June 28 will once again be the first of 10 events in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series “Race to the Chase.” This segment of the season is critical for every team as they look to qualify for the Championship round starting in September at the SYLVANIA 300.
The first NASCAR weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway will also feature the NASCAR Nationwide Series Camping World RV Sales 200 presented by RVs.com and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour New England 100 on Saturday, June 27. Heluva Good! Pole Day for the Sprint Cup Series and the NASCAR Camping World Series East Heluva Good! 125 will headline the Friday, June 26 schedule.
Since the start of the “Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup” in 2004, the SYLVANIA 300 has always opened the NASCAR’s 10 race playoff. In 2009, all eyes will be on New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 20 as the best of the best start their quest for the “Cup.”
NASCAR’s second weekend in New Hampshire includes intense competition at the Camping World Truck Series New Hampshire 200 and the Whelen Modified Tour New Hampshire 100 on Saturday, September 19. Round two of both the Heluva Good! Pole Day for the Sprint Cup Series and the Camping World Series East Heluva Good! 125 will be in the spotlight on the Friday, September 18. Late Model and short track race fans will have the added thrill of seeing the best of the American-Canadian Tour and the Série American-Canadian Tour-Castrol compete in the inaugural ACT Invitational. The date for the Invitational will be announced soon.
From Tuesday, May 12 through Sunday, May 17, New Hampshire Motor Speedway will step back in time to showcase the racecars of yesteryear at the 19th Annual Vintage Racing Celebration. The oval racers will take to the track on Tuesday, May 12 and continue through Thursday, May 14. The road course warriors of the sports car and vintage motorcycle world challenge the speedway from Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17. Plans are being made to enhance this weekend with unique vintage vehicle displays and an old-fashioned swap meet.
The Grand Marshal for the Vintage Racing Celebration will be the legendary Johnny Rutherford, a three-time Indianapolis 500 winner.
The 86th Loudon Classic, America’s oldest motorcycle meet, will feature professional motorcycle racing with the American SportBike Racing Association on Sunday, June 14. The always popular racers of the Loudon RoadRace Series will take to the track on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13. This event opens the 2009 Motorcycle Week in the region.
