Eric Williams Wins the 11th Annual Merchants Bank 150

Eric Williams of Hyde Park, VT dominates the 11^th Annual Merchants Bank 150 as the last 106 laps are completed without a caution. Williams started fifth and worked his way to first during a caution plagued opening 44 laps. Williams took the lead from Dave Pembroke on about lap 50. Scott Payea caught Williams on lap 122 as they worked their way through heavy lap traffic, but once traffic cleared Williams was too strong.

Williams said, “It was an unbelievable day to pick up this win on the same day my son won his first ever race (at Thunder Road). To be come the second NHMS Qualifier was frosting on the cake.”

Patrick Laperle appeared to be catching Williams after working his way up from 23^rd, but never got a chance to contend for the lead as the laps ran out. Laperle would end up second, Payea third, Dave Pembroke fourth and Brian Hoar fifth.

Eric Williams joins Brad Leighton as the first two qualifiers for the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The 50^th Anniversary season at Thunder Road kicked off with a bang and will continue with the Memorial Day Classic on May 24 as the ACT Tour will be back in town and the True Value Modifieds will join them. The ACT Tour will continue next week with their third event of the season on May 9 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY.
