Maureen Tucan Passes at 52

Taunton – Maureen P. “Moe” (Guay) Tucan, the wife of Albert W. Tucan, died on June 2, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital, following a courageous battle with thyroid cancer. She was 52.

Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of Gerald S. Guay and Priscilla (Broomhead) Guay. Educated in Taunton schools, she was a 1975 graduate of Taunton High School. Mrs. Tucan was employed as an administrative assistant by the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project for the past 5 years, having previously worked for Reed & Barton Silversmiths for over 28 years. A communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church, she enjoyed gardening and walking, especially along the Cape Cod Canal.

In addition to her husband and parents, all of Taunton, she leaves 2 sons, Alex M. and Zack A. Tucan, both of Taunton; 4 sisters, Francina Sousa of Seekonk, Kathleen Rose of Taunton, Lorraine Prince of New Bedford, and Geralyn Guay of Spokane, WA; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Monday, June 8th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
