Joey Pole Racing puts finishing touches on Tony Stewart’s ride for Thunder Road
Hudson, NH — The action at Thunder Road Speedbowl in Barre, VT will be at a fever pitch on Thursday June 25th. Why you ask? Well; could the announcement of a 2-Time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion racing at the ¼ mile oval have anything to do with it? You bet!
It was announced some time ago that Tony “Smoke” Stewart was going to be racing at Thunder Road in the 2009 Carquest Governor’s Cup 150. So, the question loomed will “Smoke” build his own car, much like fellow Sprint Cup Driver Kevin Harvick did for the T.D. Banknorth 250 or will he “borrow” a car?
That question was answered quickly when it was announced that Tony will be piloting the Thunder Road Track Record holding car of Young ACT Standout #97 Joey “Pole” Polewarczyk Jr. The car is named “Betsy” and she has received a new body and many other new parts in preparation for the upcoming race.
What more could you ask for” “She is proven to be the fastest car on that track” stated Joey; when asked about what he thought Tony will think about the now re-numbered #14 Chevrolet Impala SS.
Joey Pole has set the fastest lap time ever for a Late Model at Thunder Road with a blistering 12.935 second lap in 2006, with this car. Joey also has won the Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Milk Bowl Pole Award 3 consecutive years in this car. “Tony will be driving Thunder Road with the best available equipment possible” added Joe Polewarczyk Sr.
Joey will be racing along side Tony with his 2009 Primary car in the familiar #97 colors and hopes to show “Smoke” the way around the infamous ¼ mile high banked oval. The action starts on Thursday June 25th at Thunder Road Speedbowl with a 6:00pm post time.
